I am a total noob to the range. My first visit was today and while touring the grounds I noticed that the cowboy shooting range had buffalo, cowboy and "indian" metal targets. Is this the norm? If so, Is shooting at caricatures of a particular race really necessary? I do realize that cowboys could be any race, but at the same time....:confused:

I did a bit of research and found that people get into the mindset of the period usually dressing up like cowboys at the competitions...If I dress up like a native person and compete in one of these events do I only shoot at the cowboy and buffalo targets? (joking)

Our Indian buddies shoot at the Cowboy targets and they never complain. Try not to read more into this than is necessary.

This Whole sport is for fun and enjoyment, so let's keep it that way.

If you insist so much on being politically correct, you should stop calling them indians, I heard some find it offensive ;)

Exactly, there's no more to it!

I wasn't trying to imply that people weren't having fun, clearly they are. Kind of hard not to read anything into it when there are targets of only one specific racial group. What if the targets were "Ukranians", "blacks" or "Jews"?

I take it you never played "Cowboys and Indians", as a youngster!

I am not suggesting you should be uncomfortable, i just wasnt aware of any other ethnicity that is used for plinking. To each his own. Have fun shooting your aboriginal targets!

On that note, the cardboard targets are BROWN!!! And B-27 targets are BLACK! Oh, the field day the human rights commission will have when I break the news to them!

QUOTE=Higain;8539310]Thats your argument?[/QUOTE]

I have nothing to depate with you.....
Generally when people argue, they argue by comparing the facts that they have. The person whose facts are more compelling wins the argument. An ignorant person does not know any facts. A person who argues with no facts argues with emotion or opinion based on nothing that can be checked or verified by the other side. It is not possible to argue against nothing (no facts.) So while a person who has no facts to bolster his argument can continue arguing, it is a fruitless argument; hence, you can't argue with ignorance. The ignorant person may walk away from an argument believing himself to be right -- not because he had the better argument based on facts that could be checked by the other side - but because he used opinion or feelings to bolster his "argument."

Can't teach common sense.
