I put out this trail cam in Oct, but then I was not able to get out at all, after that.

Today I 'slogged' through the snow to get in and get the memory card from this camera. What a ####ing battle! I optimistically headed into the bush, thinking the snow would not be too bad. I was able to follow a snowmobile track about half way and that was really nice. But once I had to leave that trail, the snow it was brutal!
The snow had a crust, and I could walk along for a bit on top of it, but whenever I punched through, the snow was right to my knees. I was carrying a heavy pack, and holy ####, when I would go down into that snow, what a struggle it was to climb back up out of it! Then of course, I would just punch through again...

I was sweating like crazy by the time I finally made it. What a work out!

No deer sign in the bush, snow is still WAY TOO DEEP. A few moose and elk track. No wolf tracks (this is good).

There's a deer that showed up on the camera last fall that is really nice. He's got some junk, nice heavy beams, nice tine length. Hopefully this deer survived the winter and will show up on the camera again this year.

Got more pics of a buck I call Dagger, I've been seeing going on 4 years now. I don't know if he made it through hunting season. I sure hope he did.

Dagger. Been getting this guys pics going on 4 years now.

I think this buck had 8 or 9 points a side, on this rack. Hopefully he survives the winter, and adds some mass and tine length.

Will be watching the trail camera throughout the spring & summer, looking for him.

Here's something interesting:

I use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (they're the ones that say 8X or 9X life). I have been using these a couple years, and I have had a full 12 month service from a set of batteries, even after being out in our -40C weather, buried beneath deep snow etc...

Today, when I pulled the memory card, I changed the batteries. Just to check. Just threw those on the voltage meter; they are advertised as 1.5V. The 8 batteries ranged from 1.715 to 1.717V, after being in the camera over winter (put the camera in place Oct 12th 2012).
I could take these and put out another camera, and probably still get a year out of them. Some of that is probably due to the (Bushnell) trail cam function.

A very nice buck! I would squeeze the trigger on that big guy. I hope that he survived the hunting season and the winter. Thanks for posting.

Demonical, nice look'n buck....hopefully we will see some pics of you beside him next fall!
Good luck.

Great looking deer Demonically!!!

Too bad the thread is ruined by certain individual who always has to post his deer. Not sure if this guy needs a medal or a chest to pin it on. The man with a house made of antlers....lol
