My rifle shoots 1/2" groups @100 yards all day! Really? Prove it.

Hi jimmy9!
Just for the fun of it, i just put my caliper on a few nickels. And they reads between 0.835 to 0.838".
So they fit perfectly this challenge and your caliber. All you have to do is shoot five 5 shot groups. And a nickel
Must completely hide the holes in each groups and you're done.
Not a small feat with a 338 lapua.
Good shooting!

I think I'm going to have to throw my hat in the ring... Yesterday I shot a 0.448" 15 shot group @100y with my Tikka Varmint in 6.5x55 Swede (All factory, no bedding, nothing done to accurize except turn the trigger weight down). So, next weekend, I'll do it proper and submit.

Well I finally tried this challenge today... Missed it by that much... Group #3 opened up to .632, I must have been out of the zone for a while there. These are my go to round for now: .260 Remington, 129 gr Matrix Ballistics 6.5mm VLD, over 39.2 gr of Varget, Lapua brass, and Federal 210GM primers.

Rifle is My Savage Mod 10 Action, XLR Chassis, 30" Shilen Select Match barrel 1:8.5 twist chambered in .260 Remington.

5 Groups at 5 Shots Each.
Smallest .366
Largest .632 (DOH!!)
Average .474

Beautiful day on the range though !! Going to try it again sometime, it was kind of fun.

OK...I think I found the bullet my rifle REALLY likes!

I went out shooting today to conduct a ladder test using Varget and 155g SMKs...no intention of trying for the 1/2" MOA challenge...WOW, the rifle shot these groups with the listed powder charges and actually made the grade for the 1/2" MOA challenge! To say I'm happy is an understatement!

Conditions: Light drizzle, light wind gusts, 10' C

Smallest group: .296"
Largest group: .500"
Average: .406"

Group #1 .500"
Group #2 .296"
Group #3 .459"
Group #4 .339"
Group $5 .437"

Rifle: G.A. Precision Crusader .308

KEEP IN MIND...THIS IS A LADDER TEST! Powder charges listed under targets...

The first group was cold bore, and just made it at .500"

Here's the smallest group:

Nice shooting Bongobob! I've admired your rifle for a while - G A Precision sure make a fine shooter.

Bob

Thanks Bob,

Yes, this rifle is a real pleasure to own and shoot...it's built like a tank! I'm interested to see what she'll do when I pick the best load and tweak it a bit. Then we'll try for the 300 yrd challenge. The other two groups in this ladder test (on another target) at 46.5g and 47g also made the 1/2 MOA cut. I guess I'll just go with the smallest group (44.5g) and play around with it a bit.

Cheers,
Greg (Bongobob)

Nice shooting BongoBob. I will add you to the original post. It's nice to see another "tactical" 308 do the challenge.

That's it - rub it in !! Just cos I failed with my Tactical .308 rifle and had to semi-cheat by using my F-Open rig LOL !!

Fair to say Mr. Bongobob knows a thing or three about shooting.
