Remington R1 Enhanced 1911, thoughts anyone?

dallasm

Wrong - R1 Carry has 4-1/4" barrel. Several videos introducing it at the SHOT show.

I stand corrected.

Weird how Remington have it listed as a 5" gun on their website:

Maybe they offer both sizes or maybe they are planning on discontinuing the 5" and going with the 41/4" instead . . . Regardless, I like it.

No worries, mate!

But - at $1200 US, I'm not sure I really need/want one. Don't really care for the Novak rear sight. I could set up a 5" R1 for a lot less.

I find barrel measurement confusing, I don't think the Carry is shorter - it's full frame, there is no sense making a 4-1/4 barrel. The Carry and the R1E are the same OAL at 8.5" according to their website.

i would say i like them lol

My wife heard me say "Nice pair!" and came to look over my shoulder. She thought that I might be referring to something else .....

I've got the same pair, but in blue. I shoot and handle them a lot more than my tricked out Series '70 Gold Cup, just for their looks. But they're hardly GI in configuration:
- lowered/dimpled ejection port
- bevelled mag well
- long tang
- high viz sights
- stainless barrel bushing
- throated barrel

Time was, that would have been considered pretty 'flash'. Next step was longer, ported barrels, and we never looked back - until now. The nostalgia wave around the 1911 has caused a resurgence of interest in the stock 1911A1, even the early models with none of the above mods.

Long live the 1911 - the Colt/Browning triumph!

I compated the Remington 1911 R1 and the Ruger1911 and found the R1 to be a little tighter in construction (slide and barrel) and actually purchased the R1 Talo two tone. I also lookedinto the Enhanced and did not feel I was getting more bang for the buck
