Feb 23/24 - Took PAL/RPAL courses
March 19 - Mailed application WITH test results (yes, I waited lol)
March 22 - Tracking showed delivered to Miramichi
April 16 - Application appeared online with received date of March 22, 2013
April 24/25 - My references and I called in to do interviews (all separately)

5 minutes after my last reference completed interview, status is showing issued.

I still don't understand why what takes 5 minutes in some provinces takes two months and counting in BC. My intereviews were completed February 12 and BC CFO is still sitting on my application. I am at day 105 now on my application.

Update, 1 weeks worth of waiting from the time my app was approved to its now in my possession! Total time 6 weeks from start to finish.

Thats not good... I did my course the same weekend as you. I called them this week and they said I should be getting it soon, they didn't specify when exactly.. Not sure who to really believe.

I did my course on March 9/10 - still no sign of my results BS
As far as I can tell so far - this is the slowest part of the process!!!!! Hope not to jinx myself for after I get the results.
Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks Sharpy. Hope to meet up. I'm in Edmonton but a member at Sherwood park. Your update is a good track of the process.

That's brutal. Have you called them to ask for an update on the status?

Hot damn!

Application Received on: 2013/01/24

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

Glad I decided to call today. First gal I spoke to told me she only forwarded calls to CFO from folks who had been waiting more than 90 days. She was about to blow me off when she realized that I was over 90 days. "Gee, I guess that applies to you. I'll put you through". Next lady I spoke to after being transferred verifies my details and says she will put a flag on my file for the officer processing it to look at it asap. I checked my status online an hour later and shazam!

BC CFO is apparently swamped. My PAL app was received on March 8th and it still hasn't shown up online even after 3 calls (one, the first, being a response to a request for information on April 2nd, I rushed and missed a question somehow). A buddy of mine is still waiting for the ATT he applied for in November.

Gotchya. I guess if it works then go for it. I have a hard time believing it would matter though. We still have privacy laws in this country and I can't see them even discussing an application with anyone other than the applicant. Regardless if they are references or military/LEO's.

Sorry for not replying right away, but yeah, its basically a courtesy thing. It can't hurt can it?

...unless you did what I did, and gave thank you cards to your references like "Thank you constible stupid face", lol.

My application was received on March 4th and final interviews were done on April 8. Sitting at the Alberta CFO office. Of course, I'm checking the status online daily, but I'm really hoping I don't end up waiting 90 days. That sucks. When I last called, they just simply said it was with the Alberta CFO for background checks and can take 4 to 6 weeks. I guess it is almost on week 3 now... sigh.

Woohoo! My app just showed up online. Took 17 business days.

I called in to verify that only my test results were missing and they said yes. I also asked about interviews, and they said once the test results are received to wait about 2 weeks before calling in to request the interview.

When your application gets transferred to the CFO, does it say that online or it still says processing? When I called, the girl at the canadian firearms place said that my application went to the Quebec CFO. No interviews or anything yet, does the CFO's office do that?

Did you apply for PAL or RPAL? You don't need to do an interview if just for PAL.

I just got off the phone with CFC. I asked straight away to speak to the BC CFO as my application was received 106 days ago. I was transferred to another person who asked for my details put me on hold and come back and said you have been approved. Calling in certainly helps.

My timeline:

January 10 - received
January 31 - Online as received
February 12 - All interviews done
April 26 - Approved

Now I wait for the mail and then I go shopping.

I read about 50 pages but 500+ seems like forever so apologies in advance if this has been asked and answered. My question is in regards to applications denied or unnecessarily delayed. I challenged my PAL/RPAL last week. Test scores signed in hand (Manitoba), form filled and ready to be dropped in mailbox (registered express post). I was able to answer 'No' to all questions as they are only for 5 years back. My problem is I have a criminal record from about 12 years ago. (I was going to wait for my Pardon to go through, but I'm 1.5 years in and now they say it could be 2 more years). The criminal record is for Mischief under $5000 x2 (a B&E may show up, but was a clerical error. I have documentation that shows its not supposed to show up. Nothing violent, nothing drug related. Just your idiot 18 year old testosterone I guess. Anyone here have a similar circumstance? Just wondering if I should prepare myself for another 2 year wait like my pardon. (At the time was 'guaranteed' 8-10 months), but thanks to Grahm James I'm in for a epic wait. Thx in Advance Oldccm

Well look at that! Figured I'd check to see if it came online this morning and there it was!

Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

One more week of the 28 day waiting period left, plus however long it takes to go through the BC CFO!

This is just a non-restricted btw.
