Why do people want a banana style mag

Is that a serious question? Why do we want sporting rifles similar to military assault rifles? Why not just shoot single shot .22s? Not only do they look better but they are far easier to grasp for fast mag changes plus they're correct for the rifle. If you want small mags all the power to you, nothing wrong with that. I hate digging dinky little mags out of my mag pouch.
 
It is all about the look and the faint hope that we may be allowed to yank out those pins one day. Smaller mag is good for hunting. Big mag is good for looking awesome on CGN.
 
I'm with the op, why pack a useless void. I can carry 3 full 10 round mags to your 1 neutered to 5 round mag. Thats 30 for me, 5 for you. Yes AR mags, but you can adapt to a 858.

Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think your long empty mags look rediculous. :stirthepot2:
 
You only have to compete in one match with an AR before you realize the smaller ones are harder to swap. But don't take our word for it. Go to a match with your teeny magazines and see.

the CZ 858 30/5 round mags go for 25 bucks, while the 5-rounder goes for 45.

At the end of the day, you can't load more rounds than me, and I am 20 dollars richer.

If we both bought five mags, I'd be able to purchase $100 worth of ammo more than you.

AND I'd look better shooting it from my banana style mag.

I only have the 20 rnd ones... Well 5 rnd but if no pin 20 lol... I like the looks, easy to hold and use as a monopod. Swap mags quickly. Many reasons.
 
For me,

1) they look WAY better

2) are way easier to do mag changes

3) someday maybe I can take the rivets out legally

4) prepping for a worst case scenario a 5/30 can become a true 30 very quickly should a WROL situation arise

5) it is my money i'll spend it however I want

6) just cause

I mean those are the easier reasons I rock 5/30 mags
 
If I had a rifle that could legally shoot with a 30 rnd. mag then that would be great. But the law states that you can only have 5 rnds. in the mag, so why have a great big mag sticking out of your gun just getting in the way. I can understand having one for the ease of changing it out. I think most people have them because they think it looks bad ass. To me it looks kind of stupid considering what the laws state. But each to his own. For those that believe that one day they will change the gun laws in our favor. I think you are dreaming.
