Robarms XCR FAQ post

You can't blame the barrel screw coming loose on the rifle if you are using an allen key to tighten it. You need to use a torque wrench, then and only then can someone diagnose if there is a problem.

Where can one find the torque specs for that barrel screw? I put red Loctite and seem fine.

A torque wrench would be nice but it is not necessary. IIRC, the manual mentions an 1/8 of a turn of your Allen wrench after it comes up snug. I've used this method with blue Loc-tite and have not had a barrel come loose.

It isn't some tiny screw that holds the barrel in you will not have any issues if you use a little red Loctite.

If you are worried spray the screw with WD40 or some other penetrating oil it will break down the red loctite making it very easy to remove.

What is the fastener size and torque specification for the barrel bolt?
Could quality lock washers be used to reduce the chance of the bolt backing off but allowing us to use something like never-seez instead of loc-tite? I really, really dislike putting loc-tite on any fastener if I can at all avoid it.

If you torque it properly (The manual says 200 inch lbs, but we do 250 inch lbs here in the shop. Alex needs to update that in the manual), it won't come loose. Check the tightness every 4-5000 rounds just to make sure everything is good.

Red or blue loctite should be fine. I would start with blue...if properly torqued you may get away with none.

The quote is from the first page of this FAQ. She used to work at RA and posted here for awhile.

Thanks guys/ladies for the reply's. I have used blue loctite and the screw still came loose. Went to the range today to try the red loctite and no issues!

I'm curious are you not degreasing/cleaning lube from the threads before you apply the Loctite = that is the only way that blue will not work for you.

Ordered my xcr.m. Today. Might be here Saturday but likely Monday. Trijicon Acog, vfg-bipod. Will be hopefully shooting at Sherwood park may long weekend.
Any gun case recommendations?
Ciao

edit; NVM, 5.11 is on sale this weekend, I see they have something that will work great.

And here it is...

Hope to get out there this weekend to the Sherwood Park Range. So far, love the feel but glad I bought the Fab Defense Gen2 FG/TPod.

I tried to remove the barrel on my XCR-L after shooting yesterday, and it seems that the threads with the barrel bolt are screwed. I can loosen the bolt about 1.5 turns and then it becomes extremely stiff and won't budge. I am able to re-tighten, but it will not come out. Any ideas? How much damage will I do if I force it out?? I think this may have been caused by shooting with the barrel bolt backed out a little bit, as that has been an issue as of late. Also as of yesterday, my trigger would not re-set at random intervals throughout a 10 rnd magazine. Cycling the safety on and off would fix this most of the time. Hoping someone can provide some insight on these issues, as I am becoming fairly frustrated with this gun.

I recently took off my fast stock and put a dlask stock adapter on but when screwing in my buffer tube it doesn't line up straight so should I file the threads down or use lock tight or a combo of the two?

I was cleaning the bolt and threads throughly. I was not using the proper blue loctite as i work at a auto shop they have a few different ones. I guess i used the wrong one.

She works great now just waiting on a 223 kit.
