wondering about warranty on a second hand pistol

Just curious, I am looking at purchasing a used pistol off the exchange, its priced fair. It is a new unfired condition. My only concern is does the warranty transfer? I tried finding an answer but could not.

What make is the pistol? Some have lifetime of the original owner, some have lifetime of the pistol, some have no warranty at all....

I had a used CZ looked after under warranty. They ran the serial number and said, send it in, warranty is still good..... had it back in about three weeks.

How would the manufacturer know if you were the original owner? Take the chance, if it breaks fix it. This incessant belief that everything has a warranty for life is getting old. Sh*t breaks, fix it or sell it. Stop whining to the manufacturer years later as if they owe you something.

Little off topic but when I was having concerns with my 2nd hand Robarms M96; Wolverine took care of me.

Called them up, told them my problem and they simply told me to send it in. No ownership questions, no hassle. Not only did the fix it up but did a factory upgrade...for free. It just cost me shipping.

I don't even consider warranty on a gun purchase - I figure in a week or two, I'll be able to fix it myself anyway.

The manufacturer would know if they limit their warranty to the original owner or extend it to secondhand owners. If the former, they would tell you what they want to know that would persuade them you were the original owner, if the latter you would discover that your secondhand pistol was covered under warranty and how to get service under the warranty.

Worrying about warranty is whining. Even as the original owner, you have no right to warranty, its a courtesy and marketing tactic. If you're worried you might need the warranty, then buy a better product.

Same here and consider the basic reliability of what's purchase before purchasing.. the rest is up to me

No kidding, if you buy something new from a store, both the retailer and the manufacturer have a responsibility to sell you an item in full working order free from damage and defects.
