The Battle Rifle Pictures Thread

Here is my finished (minus sling mounts) modern battle rifle project.

This is the best black feather RS to date ! Exactly how I seen it in my head !

Thanks for the comments, I'm pretty proud of it :D I was going for a nice clean look. Considering the capabilities of the rifle I wanted an optic that had some magnification, but still allowed for short range work. I'm very happy with the Vortex, its a high quality peice of glass and works exactly as I hoped it would. It probably weighs in around 12 pounds now, which isn't light, but I got the UBR stock to help balance the rifle. I have no issues with the weight, feels exactly like a battle rifle should.

Here is the parts list for the rifle:
- Norinco M305 18.5"
- Blackfeather RS
- Blackfeather SHG
- Magpul UBR stock
- Magpul MIAD grip
- Troy Ind M14 muzzle brake
- Gas lock front sight base from Bits Of Pieces
- Sadlak extended magazine release
- SEI extended bolt stop/release
- NM op rod spring guide

For the optics:
- ARMS #18 mount
- ARMS #22 medium quick detach rings
- Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 MRAD

Here is my rifle minus a few parts that I am waiting for to arrive!! I will post a current pic on completion of assembly!

Nice looking rifles dude. Question: Is LRB allowed to ship a rifle to Canada with a USGI style flash suppressor on it? I notice neither of your LRB rifles have one.

I know its rude to ask and its none of my F%^king business.......but how much did that shopping list cost ?
Totally understand if you tell me to F^&k off :)
Nice looking rig all the same. Well done.

Thank you for the props Lost...again!!

LOL

NO worries Ya know I never really payed too much attention to what the complete list nailed me. I bought what I could at a time then started wrenching on the project once I had enough parts to keep me busy. Truthfully I am a very unhappy guy if I have nothing to build/do!! I actually build 4x4's for a living and as a hobby I have a little 91 Jeep Comanchee that I have turned into a "budget" Desert racer for playing with the big dogs down south of the border......but due to a very nasty back injury I have not been able to do much of either.....so rather that sitting Idol and getting depressed over the long winter of recovery I turned to an old passion of the fire arm flavor!!!

I probably have way too much loot wrapped up in her....probably in retrospect could have bought something cheaper...but...I have everything I wanted in an "M14" and. I had alot of fun building it completely with my own two hands(barrel swap n all). First and foremost, it helped keep my mind(sort of) off the other hobby/living that I fill my every day with until I recover!!

Awesome rifle bear! I also happen to know of your 'little comanche', and I can't say I'm surprised to see you put together such a solid rifle after watching the MJ come together on Pirate! Hope that back heals up and we can cheer for you again next Feb! Unibodies and M14s, is there anything better?

My small contribution to this thread: heat treatment.

Looked at a stripped Arisaka receiver recently. First time I'd seen one out of the wood. I was amazed by its small size and relatively thin walls, because this is the action that was found to be the strongest of WWII bolt actions wasn't it?

The reason was the "sophisticated heat treatment" IIR the phrase correctly. Good steel too no doubt, but more the heat treating according to P.O. Ackley.

That's a highly skilled job that done incorrectly can dramatically change metallurgy.

New guy learning? Temporary lack of attention? Defective or out of adjustment equipment? Angry employee?

Lots of possible reasons for problems like this.

That is a sweet setup with the Aimpoint. Will you need a cheek riser for that?

Thanks, no riser required running the Aimpoint. The factory spacer is installed, it can sit lower.
I will use a riser whenever I mount glass on the SEI scope mount.
