I am starting this thread fresh and changing a few things. This is a place for people to show their best groupings, and will have a list of the Top 10 shooters by their average group size. I will update the Top 10 regularly, but anyone is welcome to post their best groups.

Rules
1) Must be a Black or Green Semi-Auto Rifle of any caliber larger then .22lr
2) Must be from 100 yards or further
3) Must have at least 4 groups with 5 shots per group on one target sheet
4) Cannot have any tape or other things that could cover stray shots on the target

Must Haves in your Post
1) A picture of the rifle used
2) A picture of the target shot
2) Must have all group sizes measured with an accurate measuring device
3) Must have the average group size calculated
4) Type ammo used and caliber (factory or reloads)

You are allowed to shoot from any position, using anything you like to rest on (Bipods, bags, etc) Please put all your information in one post, and if necessary edit it later to change your submissions. Please post the measurements of all the groups, as well as the average group size for those who cannot view the pictures. Feel free to post extra information in your post with details and upgrades of your rifles. I will be updating the top 10 shooters by there name on here and their average group size. No making fun or insulting others posts, as this is a fun place for people to show off their best shooting. Lets keep this clean and have fun! Thanks

And I will start it out, I just got back from the range to see how I could do. Not 1 MOA, but the best I could do out of 3 sheets.
Group sizes are:
15/16", 1 1/16", 1 5/8", 1 3/16" with an average of 1 3/16".
I will try again later this week, I just went out their quickly to see what I could bang out. This was using my XCR-L in .223 using Norinco ammo. Scope is a Vortex 1-4x PST.

Cool idea. Are you going to split it into iron sight/RDS and magnified optics classes? Up to what power magnification is allowed? You should put in a ruling on the use of bipods also.
 
Let's try this again!

My handloads @ 100m with my TA31F 4x32 ACOG (not in the picture). Sorry I don't have the actual measurements. The groups aren't sub MOA but they are good enough for me.

Gorsh, your picture must be a close up. I thought those were 7.62 holes until I read your post! Nice shooting man. It is real rewarding when you walk up to your target and the holes are touching.
 
Yeah, I realized after that I wrote really small on it so I had to get as close as I could to read it in the picture. You have some nice groups too! I'm getting my reloading equipment going soon so I'm excited to see what I get with handloads. And do others think that we should have a list for iron sights and scoped or just one all together?

What do bipods have to do with this, we should be allowed to use any rest we choose. There won't be a single person that can do this offhand.
Plus magnified is magnified. If you choose to use a 1-4 or a 6-24 should be up to you, at 100 yards it won't make much difference.
If you make too many rules and categories it's just gonna get stupid. Lets keep it simple. Run whatever you want but post pics and give details of your gear.

Matt, just imagine what you could do with real ammo. That norc stuff is crap, a buddy of mine couldn't get less than 4moa with it off a rest from his XCR. Add the fact the bullets are inconsistently sized they are also really hard on your barrel if they are the bi-metal jacketed ones.

You may want to reconsider using that stuff once you read that. Cut your barrel life to 1/3 of what you should get.

I can't wait till Thursday to hit the range and give this a shot or 20 with both my rifles :D

Just like JR Hartman, I must have a limited edition run of Norinco then, cause all of mine do not react at all to a magnet.

Mine is brass cased and FMJ lead.
 
I just cracked open another case of yellow boxed stuff, and the magnet won't stick !

I built a completely new vltor upper with a Daniel defense chf barrel to use exclusively with the norinco, to avoid chewing up my ss noveske upper with bimetal projectiles !
Double checked the original case, and every round checked will attract the magnet, but the other four I have are all non magnetic... I stand corrected and confused.
 
No I think everyone should be aloud to do whatever stance they want, use a bench, bipod or anything else. This is just about the best shot you can do from 100+ yards. Also any magnification is aloud, 1-4x, 6-24x etc, that would all fall under the magnified class. What do you guys think about making a top 10 for irons/red dots and a top 10 for all magnified? Or should it all be under 1 list, although the iron sight guys would be at a disadvantage.
 
Not all the Norinco ammo is the same. That is why some of you have some that the magnet doesn't stick to and some of you have stuff that it does stick to. We are talking the actual bullet by the way not the brass casing just in case anyone is confused.
I've read that some of the Norinco is consistent in bullet size then another batch will have undersized projectiles mixed into the batch.
Watch for keyholing on your target and I would try to make sure when you are ordering it that you buy from a batch with the copper jacket and not bi-metal (copper and steel alloy).


Come on guys, let's get some pics up. I want to see what kind of accuracy people are getting with their toys. I'll be at the Genesee range (West of Edmonton) Thursday and Friday if anyone in the area is off work and wants to come out. Friday I'll be out there with Stormchaser so I'll only be able to bring in one more guest but Thursday I can take 2. I hope the wind is calm :)
Can everyone posting pics and their info also please also include whether or not you let the barrel cool between shots or if you just did slow strings? I'm wondering how much difference it really makes.

Are you serious? That would put a full target AR with a 5-25 S&B in a target sled up against an XCR with a 1-4. It will make a difference.

This is not complicated, cgn has had these kinds of comps before. Make it max 5X magnification (scopes can be dialed down) and no bipods. Shoot off bags.

And just to illustrate what can and can't be done I will do it prone with glove, I won't set any records but the groups will still be decent.

If you would like an example of how something like this is run, go to Milsurp and look at the Milsurp online match and yes there are categories and rules. It is well organized and in its 3rd year.
