Swiss Arms rifles being examined for reclassification?

Guys relax, consider this.

The government set a precedent to compensate owners fairly with the Type 97, and that was only a hundred or so at a grand a piece. Consider that the Swiss Arms rifles have been imported for over a DECADE and are THREE TIMES the price.

You think anyone is going to authorize that kind of expenditure from the public purse for a non-problem?

That's the way I'm trying to think of it, too.
There's gotta be, what, over a thousand of these rifles in private hands throughout the country? It would cost the government +/- 3.5 million to compensate the owners and then there's the logistics involved in rounding them all up and chasing down every owner. Without the LGR in place it would be mighty tough to get them all. Be calm and think logically, folks.

That being said, the government has spent stupid amounts of money and wasted countless hours on busy-work pointless projects before, so if this does come to pass even though I'm not an owner of said rifles I'm prepared to do my part, write letters, meet with my MP and whatever else needs to be done to help our cause. Just like I did with the BD-38, the AP-80, the Type 97 and the Walther G-22. None of which I have owned.

Sask sten has nothing to do with it.

I called him. He knows absolutely nothing about the current situation. (Yes. People still use telephones.)

Just because you're banned don't mean your phone stops working.

I would not carry a prohibited device in the trunk of my car even if it show on no registry, it would feel like carying a time bomb... JP.

It doesn't matter who owns them now or not. If they are reclassified and you don't get yours registered as such, you're a criminal and face potential charges if caught. Same thing happened when the long-gun registry came in.

Prohibit what...

There is no record of who owns these. Just what were imported.

No way to find them. ALL Records were destroyed, remember.

Well he's from Quebec so his data is still around, I'd expect those stormtroopers to kick doors in and toss places looking for them.

So, out with it, Was it the Shooting center or the Shooting edge, that was pissed MD Charlton got the new deal???

Someone needs to talk, I'm getting pissed off. Money grubbing dirty fukcs.

In the original thread csc stated that one of their competitors said one their sans were converted autos and they had to give one of their sans for examination. This makes me think it is unlikely that csc is behind this. Who their competitor is has not been identified yet but I agree that whoever they are needs to be boycotted by all firearm owners. They have put every black rifle at risk with this move and need to be punished.

Who used to bring in ALL the Swiss Arms before.

Who loses out now that companies go out and import their own.

Drive... WTF

They can Pick Them UP. I won;t deliver it. Come and get it.

They can send a dozen officers across the country traveling for months trying to find all these.

maybe have them just pick up random cement blocks...LOL

The provincial CFO's already have liaison officers in most large cities.

They already have the road map for confiscation with the Type 97.

One call from the CFO to tell you when he's coming is all it takes. The liaison officer show's up, you sign a form and he takes your rifle. It's really that simple.

Ask me how I know...

How so? From what I heard it totally can be blamed on him. I wish someone who was at the hearings could back me up or I could find a transcript from it.

The hearing determined that his "Sask Sten" Sten can be made and sold and is not "easily converted" to full-auto in the time determined to be easy for someone to do.

As far as I know he never got anything rolling reclassification-wise. He mostly stuck to the Sten stuff.

I have his # from an earlier dealing and talked to him today, interesting conversation about the hearing and how our regs are interpreted by the courts. I'm gonna go to bed less stupid than when I woke up.

Could care less how he got banned, I'm not privy on that event.
