need new references as one decided my having a gun licence was against his beliefs

I am not saying there is anything wrong with Jinx, I was just asking a question.

Kind of weird, jinx is a'posting away, & still showing a zero count.
I misread your words W L, ... Yet another "engage brain before starting mouth" vvik incident.

fingers crossed
Yes.
Surely not the first time the CFC has dealt with a flaky ref..
This will get sorted out OP.
The wait?, it may be glacial in pace .... but you have your ducks in a row.

OT Digression: How I miss the FAC era. Phone call leads to appointment. M/F plainclothes officers show up, have a living room chat over coffee's. Look over my storage lock-up. ... "Pleased to meet you Officers, g'night" ... R-Prohib approval in the mailbox one week later.
Ahhh, them were the days.
I feel for you younger folk, dealing with todays grinding bureaucracy.

certified mail recieved yesterday called today to see if they have it in there system yet so i can have my reference call in. "we are expirencing higher than normal volume please call back to see if it is in the system in two weeks" um no i will call in two days thanks already going on 4 months here

Since this is posted in the Newbie FAQ I don't believe post counts increase.

Jinx's only posts have been made in this post therefore, no post count.

That would make sense...I guess

But you are right. I just checked my count before and after this post(quick edit).
I wonder why that is............

my info is still not scanned so my reference still cannot call in. i had hoped to clear this all up in time for the camrose gun show but i do not see that happening at this point. next show after that in my area that i am aware of is the edmonton one but not till october i think. gggrrrr oh well i guess there is next year

You'd really prefer having people inspect you and your home, making a highly subjective call on what you should and shouldn't have and how you live in general? Yikes - give me the phone and paper system anytime. No, not anti-police (work with them all the time) and have nothing to hide (other than my appalling housekeeping) but you should be careful what you wish for...IMHO

oh if my licence application was determined on my house keeping skills all hope would be lost i would never get licenced. i could however probably cook my way out of it fresh coffee and cookies(with holes in the middle :) )

It wasn't an intrusive experience pontcanna. In my case, a very pleasant and professional M/F team of Plainclothes Detectives did their due dilligence/paperwork aforehand, made an appearance to my home, on time and punctual, asked a few non-invasive questions in a friendly tone, looked at my storage, and moved on out the door to their next official duty. They were not subjectively judgemental of how I should live. They were straightforward and efficient.
Face to face. Done and finished.

This, from inside a single guy's den of iniquity  ... slob dude considered his monthly housecleaning to be concluded after having left the windows open for a spell.

The times were different. Police and honest citizens shared mutual respect back then. We co-operated with each other ... out of goodwill and trust.

So yeah ...
How I miss the FAC era.

No overlord CFC. No uppity CFO's BS. No NR/R/PROHIB status'. No ATT's. No Firearms(C68)Act. No licencing expiry Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads. No Wendy. No Media enemies. No RCMP anti-gun shenanigan-ban/reclassifications. No CACP anti-gun-lobby-media-activism. No mag limits. No UN treaty one world order claptrap. No big deal to take your HK91 out in the bush and let 20 fly rapid fire. ... et al, et cetera ...

Glad you had a good experience back in the day. But times have certainly changed and one never knows who one is going to draw when the appointment is booked or if the specific department in question has a "position" on firearms ownership, storage, etc. Hey, I'd probably be fine, I can banter with law enforcement with the best of them and any thieves would have to dig thru months of discarded clothing/odds and ends before getting to safes, lockers and so on (after defeating the alarm) but it's an experience I'd just as soon skip if I could help it.

All of my references were firearms owners. lol And none of them were contacted.

Jinx, can you not take a licensed friend with you to the gun shows?
