My grandfather just gave me this Squires Bingham model 16. ive been thinking of putting a scope on it or maybe a red dot if its possible. any suggestions would be helpful

Well, a 142 pages and no one has shown one of these. A Winchester Model 55 Single Shot Automatic .22 rifle. I had never seen one of these until I acquired this one a few weeks ago. So I did a bit of research and just had to try it out. This has got to be one of the slickest working little .22s that I have ever used. The Model 55 was manufactured between 1957-1961, and only 45,100 were made. It is a very basic, single-shot rifle firing .22 LR, L, S, & CB cap ammunition. This rifle sold new for about $15 in the 50’s, but now a collector’s item (not collector grade, however) selling from $150-$450 in good to excellent condition.
Mine is not in mint condition but man can it shoot. ;)
