PICS ADDED: Did I buy a used shotgun? - UTS15

I have visited several firearm factories. ALL of them test fire each gun. One fired 5 shots from each. Another (military guns) fired a full mag.

They are testing to make sure it loads, fires, extracts and ejects. If it fails, it goes back to the shop for adjustment and then gets tested again.

What I noticed is they don't do a proper cleaning. A stoke or two with some Hoppes on a patch is about it. So your new gun will be a bit dirty.

I only bought a couple of new handguns (both .22's, actually), that had a letter indicating they were test-fired, and they included a little report and a target with holes in it indicating they were made by my gun. I think my CZ-858 came with that paperwork, too, I can't remember. I've bought a couple of USED guns from Epps and they certainly didn't look like that when they arrived - they were spotless.

I suppose a way around this would be to e-mail the supplier for pics of the firearm before buying. A picture on a website could come from anywhere. I'm sure any of the sponsors here would accommodate this request (another +1 for Epps - they did for me, both new and used). When I'm buying a firearm, I'm dishing out what for me is a lot of $$$. I'd want to be sure beforehand of what I was getting. Those UTS's ain't cheap.

Its a UTS 15. So Turkish made, premium price shotgun.

I've owned Chinese shotguns and the bolt's face has never looked this bad new.

I have bought brand new Turkish made optima mp shot gun, and mine came brand new, with barrel unattached, no signs of any wear from test fire, clean as can be expected for new. I say return it for exchange.

Probably just from test firing at the factory, during their break time, and they got carried away.
I've seen firearms sold on E.E. as: NIB-never fired before-in mint condition, with more wear.:)

Because of the design and style of the UTS 15, more than usual test shots will be fired, maybe they found something that needed adjustment and had to fire more after the adjustments were made. I wouldn't worry about it. Think of it this way, your gun got really good quality control and will be covered under warranty if anything should come up.

Or you're getting fvcked. One or the other.

Did you by any chance already return yours?

If not could you snap a pic of your bolt face please? :)

Yea mine was bone dry and dirty. I just finished cleaning and lubing her up.

I returned it already, however I have to go to the LGS anyway tonight, let me see if I can get a look at her one last time, will snap a picture if I can get it for you.

Made me wonder if the importer had it returned fixed it then resold it. Or did they take parts from a new firearm for a customer and when the other parts came in they simply swapped it into a new gun.

When I explained the test firing to you on the phone you told me that made sense. A simple call back/email would have resolved this instead of posting on here.

Publicly chastising a customer makes you look like an ass no matter what he said or did.

Sure looked like a lot of wear for test firing. Refurb shotgun maybe?

I kinda agree. I read through and don't recall the OP mentioning a retailers name ( correct me if I'm wrong ) so no need for the retailer to jump on them.

I wouldnt say he chastised the customer. Vendors are allowed to counter on these forums, and Ryans post was polite and direct. More dialogue should be that way.

I wasn't trying to jump on them, I posted here as I wasn't trying to hide it came from us. Sometimes things get lost while typing unfortunately. My point was only that a simple call back after the first call could of resolved all of this. If he's not happy with the firearm he's more than welcome to send it back.

Sorry Ryan, originally I started the thread just regarding the bolt. I then called after members said it looks used. You guys have been very helpful. I did not or was not planning on representing you guys negatively. You guys are always helpful.

I would love to return it.... But there's an issue. I took your word it was new. Went out to try it out!

The shotgun catastrophically failed on the 9th round. I was shooting skeet, so just plain target load. 9th round the shotgun literally blew apart. The barrel ring was sheared and the shotgun upper flew off the lower.

Holy crap balls batman !!!

Now this is an entire different situation. I'd be beyond pissed and looking at legal action against the manufacture.

Give me a call tomorrow after 10 and we'll get it sorted out for you. I'm sure you'd prefer a refund at this point. Sounds like they needed a few more test rounds thru it. Can you drop me some pics as well? Sorry this isn't turning out well for you.
