IPSC powers that be find slavery a laughing matter

No, I don't believe they think slavery is a laughing matter. It was just an attempt at humour; perhaps a tasteless attempt at that.
 
I'm sure if it was just a lowly regular member of IPSC who made a remark on social media that they thought was funny but high command didn't there would be a call for punishment. But since this is high command making jokes about human rights violations it will get swept aside as a non issue.
 
VP of IROA Juergen Tegge's comments were completely racist, and he should step down as VP. The was a classless exempt at a racist joke, for only other racist that would laugh at it. "Taking one step forward, and ten steps back with foot in mouth,and later on in ass."

Disturbing to say the least. The misogynistic jokes over there are one thing, but this a bit much for an open forum that is supposed to represent all IPSC shooters in all countries.
 
Aside from not knowing the individuals involved or being aware of long running issues, it seems apparent to me that the 2 parties involved in the initial discourse were being a mite casual and not intentionally malicious. Trouble is, the medium they used is public so now the "broken wing" crowd are going to expose their understanding and merciful natures by screaming for blood. Folks have gotta remember that a public post is a public matter and license will be taken by the reader in interpreting context. Whether that interpretation serves a purpose other than race baiting is also up for interpretation.
