Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

Anyone know where to get the flat gas cylinder assembly? I have the original Tar-21 with the Mepro-21 and I have the full rail for the top and now just looking for the gas cylinder without the rear sight.

Canada Ammo was the only source for a long time. Not sure if they have any left though.

In probably 6-8 months you'll probably be able to get one out of the US though!

Very nice. What break is that? I wasn't considering one until I fired TPP's Tavor, and found it very noticeably improved over stock. Not that Tavor recoil is particularly horrible but there's a definite kick to the right that I'd like to mitigate if possible. Cheers.

Ahh thought it looked familiar. Only thing is length -- I'd rather not add any more. I've been looking around at short muzzle brakes and the Spikes Tactical Extreme Short has some good reviews. Don't know what availability is like in Canada.

I liked my muzzle brake until I saw that photo :) Might pick one up!
Very nice. On mine I don't find any noticeable recoil at all, and after about 300 rounds now, the trigger pull is much lighter. A light little squeeze really.

I had a chat with Bill at Geissele Automatics. Drop in trigger kits for the Tavor are being designed right now. His earliest estimate was available in the fall. When I mentioned Canada as a potential market he was happy to hear it. He said Arms East was his distributor here.

I'm one very excited Tavor owner.

They are designing the trigger for us made tavors?

Holy crap; if that's what I think it is, that optic costs almost as much as the rifle itself.

Did you get it "cheap"? And how is it working for you so far?

Yes it's an Elcan. And worth every penny. I believe it was 2k$, so not cheap but I wanted a package like this for a long time and got a nice tax refund that covered it all.

Question for TV-PP here is if our trigger pack would swap out with the US designed Geissele trigger pack?

Also orthoboy, did you remove to one un-necessary spring in the trigger pack to lighten the pull weight a few pounds?

You'll find that your trigger gets lighter after a certain break in period. Or that your index finger gets stronger, either way I noticed after a few months shooting the Tavor it felt lighter to me.

Removing the spring also helped.

As for the Geissele trigger: that's hard to say.

I've been told but have never confirmed that the US trigger pack is a different size. I've been trying to buy a US rifle but of course they're hens teeth down there and even rarer up here.

It is highly probable that if the precision trigger pack did not fit our rifles, the enhanced parts and springs could be disassembled if one were ambitious enough and reconstructed inside a Canadian trigger-pack.

Sweet. I've been looking into this setup as well! Can you snap some close up pics to show it off to us? :D
