New Rugger 10-22 CLONE on the market

well..i believe i will take a review from a person who ACTUALLY shot the thing over a hater of offshore products who probably has never had one in his hands,,,just think if an offshore company can improve the 10/22 while still keeping it under the US retail price of the real 10/22,,,,why cant RUGER do it themselves for the same price,,,and please spare me the sob story about cheap labor,,,as far as ALL offshore copies being so bad,,,they sure dont seem to have a hard time selling them,,LOL...how odd the US sold the tooling for the M-14 to the orient,,,???,,but that was a junk gun anyhow right,,LOL...and i would bet that the offshore haters dont have a problem buying their cheap ammo,,,

I agree that you should buy quality. I also agree that N.A. manufacture has to keep its quality up - or return it to what it was. However - it's not the unions that are destroying economies - that's corporate propaganda.

Corporate rules in all publicly traded corporations require that profit be maximized and costs be trimmed - which means chopping wages wherever possible, outsourcing, and busting unions. It's why Apple has most of its stuff made in China. It's why clothing is made in Bangladesh and India and other places why the Royal Bank was working on training temporary foreign workers in Canada to go back to wherever it was (India?) to take over the jobs that Canadians are doing - corporate cost cutting.

It's why Ruger uses plastic instead of metal in parts of the 10-22, corporate cost cutting so that returns to shareholders can be maximized. The unions were taking home good wages to their homes and raising their standards of living. (Oh, and... if you don't like plastic firearms parts, I'll gladly relieve you of any Glocks you might want to dispose of - since you're going to throw them out anyway) :) )

Caterpillar (massively profitable) slashing wages in a Canadian plant and then closing it so they could pay US non-union workers something not much more than minimum wage. If Suncor and Shell and the others up in the oil patch could get away with paying minimum wage, they would, and then how would the the guys in the oil patch buy all their toys from the merchants on this website? You don't see the guy selling your gasoline at the gas station making "roughneck" wages, and I'm willing to bet you don't get the guys who sell you the gasoline at the pump buying a lot of toys - they can't - profit on the litre of gasoline goes to the shareholders and the CEOs, not to the guys who sell the stuff to you.

Read "Supercapitalism" by Robert Reich to get a better feel for it.

Really to bad this turned into a battle about plastic and off shore manufacturing instead of a rimfire review. I was actually looking forward to hereing about the gun.

Ya, I here you. I simply bought a "different" 10-22 and gave my unprofessional view of it. I personaly like it, it functions great, It feels more old school military,...I have nothing to gain...its only $240 bucks,..I bought it for ####s and giggles, and turned out to be a great little rifle. Nothing more, nothing less. Buy what ya wanna buy, stay with "rugger" lol, if you want, I dont care. I'm happy, I love it. Well..heading to the Tri gun.

ok then, well spent 8 hours shooting today. Good TRI GUN. there was also three 10-22 rifles used. I passed the RIA around all day and let every one try it. I think Frontier is going to be busy this week. The responces were .." tac driver...I like the feel of the heavy stock....I like the sights....its only how much ?....where do I get one. In 8 hours it only had 1 Fail to eject. Well there you go. Gun has now had over 900 rounds pounded through it, handled by 15 people, and they all liked it....and I have NOT cleaned it yet! I am impressed...I didnt know what to expect when I bought it. Buy this gun with confidence, its the best $249 you will spend. What a wonderful rifle.

I can tolerate poor spelling. My beaf is with people who don't use capital letters and/or puncuation.

I like to have all the elements present, personally ;). And the official definition for Beaf is "to fart with athority" [sic].

Prairie Gun Traders shows the rifles in stock, as does the currently "under maintenance" Sporteque site.
 
I have to agree that the spelling, grammar and syntax displayed online is a travesty... And can be very irritating. As far as a "clone" 10/22 goes... "Reverse engineering" goes on in every sector of manufacturing... Overseas companies are trying to make money too, but they go about it differently. In the west, we sink huge amounts of money into advertising, promotion and R&D... This puts companies behind the proverbial "8-ball" when it comes to profit. Foreign companies "rob" concepts and engineering and reverse engineer them at a lower cost and then offer them in bulk sales back to us, using western "ad money" to promote their products and sell in bulk... The mantra is "just as good... But costs less." The truth is, they are rarely just as good... But once in a while a decent product does come along. I have a couple Chinese motocross bikes that are shameless rip-offs of Honda designs... The selling point for me was, I wanted to bike with my son and I didn't have $10,000 for two Honda's, but I did have $1400 for two Gio's and so far they have held up and we have had a lot of fun with them... But I would never say that they are "as good as" a Honda... That claim would be laughable.
 
One of the best things about the Ruger is the 10 round rotary mag. If they're going to copy anything, that should be #1.
This rifle doesn't actually show up on the RIA/Armscor website, they don't appear to be available in the US. Maybe it's due to the Chinese parts?

Thing is they did not copy the magazine at all. It is an off-the-shelf aftermarket magazine made by Butler Creek. The rifle is Listed on the Armscor site, and according to guntech.com.ph, it is a product of the Phillipines.

I know they didn't copy the mag, my question is why not? A flush fitting 10 rd is superior to one that has the same capacity but extends several inches below, no? Also, the BC plastic feed lip mags suck, unless this is a steel lips model?

We know it's largely a product of the Philippines, though the trigger group and receiver are imported.

It is not on the US website of Armscor/RIA, us.armscor.com, therefore I'm assuming it's not available there, and there's a lack of info on US websites.
 
apparently A LOT of guys dont mind where it's made,,,just that it's better than the 10/22,,,Frontier is allready out of stock,,,bet ya they are going to be bringing in a bunch more now,,,i'll be on the waiting list,,,
