MR1 or XCR or Tavor or Swiss Arms?

i was in the same boat exept my decisions included the tavor as well as the xcr and mr1 i went with the tavor and never looked back super reliable nice to shoulder not front heavy and compact although i would like a xcr m in the future

What's the big deal about scoping an MR1?

I have 2. Took off the back sight (2 screws) and mounted 3-9x40mm's with Leupold PRW low rings. And cheek-weld is fine too (comfortech models).

Pmags are a little tight fitting, all the metal mags I've tried have been good.

Haven't handled an xcr yet for comparison though.

My new XCR-L is running fine. (.223) Have some loads worked up for it that are producing good results, but Hornady factory 55gr. V-Max ammo is very good in it too. Only issue has been a couple of stovepipes caused by lower-powder charges in some of my home-rolled ammo. Even those run fine if I'm not on gas setting #1. The MR1~I can't say I feel as though the XCR-L is worth as much as the asking price (yet) but I DO know I couldn't warm-up to the MR1 on the few times I held one. I wanted to like it, just didn't. Granted, I've never shot one.

Proud owner of a very reliable and problem-free XCR-L here...

I have put 3000 rounds through mine and it has never failed.

I decided to save up a bit more to give myself some more options. I dont think I'll be buying another rifle in this price range for a long time (if ever), and seeing as how I'm willing to spend 2500$ I may as well save up another $1000 to give myself more options. I havent had a chance to handle a MR1 yet, but I'm sort of leaning away from that. I'm just going to be patient while I save up. But now I'm seriously thinking about a Tavor. I know, I'm all over the map, I just dont want to spend this much money on something I'll regret.
So, has anybody tried running LAR-15 mags in their Tavor? How well do they function?

Pretty much all I ever used in my old Tavor was LAR15 mags and literally did not have one failure of any kind.

The Swiss is the best of the bunch, but well outside your price range. Honestly, I'd suggest you save an extra month and pick up a Tavor over an XCR. The Tavor is a proven quantity, is very reliable, will take the LAR-15 mags no problem and you don't need to lock-tite anything to keep it from falling off the rifle. The XCR is more accurate, but it has has reliability issues, requires a 200+ round "break-in" period and if you don't loc-tite certain parts they will fall off the gun. Besides, the owner of Rob Arms is a massive douchenozzle. The MR1 & HK SL-8 are both well-made firearms, but the MR1 ergos didn't work for me and I honestly didn't care for its esthetics. The HK, is pretty accurate but heavy and I always saw it as more of a bench or bipod rifle rather than an off hand plinker. If money is an issue, you might want to take another look at the JR Carbine, Theuron Defense or even the Kel-tec SU-16. Not my cup of tea, but they are much less expensive and in pistol calibers are much easier to keep fed. Best of luck with the hunt!

I would go Tavor unless you want a more traditional rifle like the Swiss Arms...but hey that Keltex RFB in 308 looks like a sleeping Giant...

Yeah, I figured if I'm going to spend $2500 on a rifle what the hell is another $700? I checked out the Swiss Arms on my lunch break today. It's a piece of artwork. Definetly worth the little extra $. Just sucks I'll be stuck with 5 round mags. They had a adapter for AR mags, but it requires the reciever to be modified. I don't think thats something I'd be willing to do. I'm just going to wait till the end of the month to see what happens with the swiss, then I'll make my decision.

I just sold a kel-tec Sub2k, and that was the one and only kel-tec I'll ever own. Their novelty guns, and it dont take long for that novelty to ware off. I like the sub guns, but if I ever get another one it'll be a Cx4.

Get a rifle that you can get parts for. I wish I opted for the Swiss, I have a love and hate thing going on my Tavor. My last outing resulted with the bolt failing to hold open on last round with 6 different mags. Could be light load on the ammo but could be the bolt stopper as well as there is a small ding on it. Still waiting to hear back from the distributor, two weeks and counting. 2-3moa is best I could do with the Tavor and that's with match grade ammo.

At that price point just for over the extra coin for a b&t tp9 or if you can find one a brs99

Honestly I would wait on buying the Swiss right now with all the hype about reclassification. I would hate to buy a 3000$+ rifle for it to be prohibited and confiscated within a few months. I own an XCR and love it! I haven't had one issue with it, and there are a lot of people that say they are unreliable but if you look at the people that own them they are just as solid as others. I personally love the quality of it, I like the quality machined metal feel over plastic, and I like the classic look. I am probably going to buy a Tavor in the future as well, but I have to say if you get an XCR you wont be disappointed. You cant go wrong with any of these rifles, so pick what one you like the looks of the most or feels the best in your hands and go shoot it!
