Well "restricted status" didn't stop my FAL from going prohib. In the end restricted only means they know exactly where to send your notice of change of status.

You missed the point I was making. It escaped prohibition with your FAL because of some moderately successful lobbying and its use in Service rifle competitions. It's not the Restricted status per se that protects it, but the fact that the very anti-gun Liberals of the mid 90's looked at it and didn't prohibit it. That aside, so what if they know where to send your change of status notification to? You won't be able to use the other rifles that go prohib, even if they get lost in a boating accident.

So FFS, get whatever is legal that you want and enjoy it.
 
What is this "invest in black rifles" the poster is talking about? I don't remember getting any quarterly returns on mine...

As to whether you should buy them, well, they are legal, so why not...we just have to do our best to fight the BS.
 
I think we need to be a little more like our American neighbours. You try taking their guns and you will be looking at the end of a barrel. Seems last time our government did this Canadians were all nice and brought them in like good little boys. Why not a letter to rcmp that simply says in capital letters F$&? OFF. And we all keep our guns in protest. If they see we won't take that crap anymore it may help us in future. We keep writing letters to people who don't have time to read text messages from their own children let alone ours. And we sit and watch them take our guns away. And keep being good little Canadians. Eh, sorry, thanks

Investment implies that you'll get your money (and perhaps more) back. Guns are NEVER an investment, they are tools - their entire worth is tied up in what they will do. Guns are and have always been a terrible investment, even the best performing (from an investment standpoint) are a poor second to a 'real' investment.

I'm not so sure about that. It depends on the gun, what you paid, and what you can sell it for. I've made money from selling guns. Mind you, nothing substantial, but I still profited non the less. I'm sure I'm not the only guy who has made money buying, and selling guns.

Incorrect look up the word investment. A investment can be a return of enjoyment. Doesn't have to have a monetary return. If I buy a boat and use it for 30 years and used the hell out of it. It's a great investment. If I have a boat for 30 years and used it twice. Terrible investment.

I don't know why I care enough to talk about definitions of words. But you did so I felt I needed to do some schooling.
