Hi folks, I live in Saskatchewan and fancy buying my first handgun from one of the site sponsors. My question is do I have to be a member of a gun club before I can get my att. I've searched the forums and can only find info for all the other provinces except this one! Thanks.

Not sure but have you held that gun, i personally am very leery about buying online, i need to see how it feels first, no two guns feel the same & comfort on your hand is very important.

Buy one and try the comfort and fit in the privacy of your own home.
If it's not to your liking, flip it on E.E., and make a few bucks.
Repeat the proccess untill you find one you like.:)

You dont need to be a club member to buy a pistol, but you need an RPAL, Youll need to belong to a club if you want to shoot it.
You can order it and have it shipped to your home.

Thanks, I knew I needed my RPAL. I got that when I got my PAL, figured I may as well just in case the rules changed at some point! just wasn't sure on the purchasing side!

Go to your LGS (if you have one), put your hands on the gun you want/like, if you like the fit, go home and order from a site sponsor at 15% less than at your LGS..

I didin't realize that, what happens when you don't want to belong to a club anymore?

I think that turns into a headache. Armedsask and another SK member where going through that. Maybe they could fill us in.

dieselfoot, it'd be easier to get a gun range membership first. Besides, you're going to want to shoot it anyway. Which gun were you looking at?

if you have a RPAL and do not belong to a club, this is what happens in Ontario:

-your ATT will be cancelled by the shooting range
-You can have, buy more guns, you cannot take them to the range, because you don't have an ATT.

You might be thinking, well, I would just go with my buddy who has an ATT...NO...
Remember the gun is registered under YOUR NAME, not your buddy's, the one requiring an ATT for that specific gun, is YOU, and YOU only.

Bottom line, here in Ontario, its necessary to have a membership with a club and they will get the ATT for you, and cancel it if you do not renew your membership.

Well, if it's like BC - on you're license renewal date - if ya don't belong to a club, they come and get'em (your restricted stuff).

Let that be a warning to anyone thinking about voting NDP in the next Ontario provincial.
Or even voting Liberal, for that matter!

Then you can no longer buy any new ones far as i understand it, you can own the ones you got thats it.

...but you can join the Edmonton Shooter's Guild for $30 and you can still buy all the guns you want. Both restricted and non-restricted. AND you can get a LTATT on it and take your restricted's to a range and shoot it (usually as a guest at most ranges).
