A good cleaning with lots of oil and repeated working the slide the gun is starting to loosen up. I've got my 5 yr. old Norc to compare it too. The only differances between my old and new guns are less writing on the new and my old gun has a serial # 199,655 higher then my new one. If the serial numbers are true to the number of guns made there is a lot of Norc 1911 out there. Is this China dumping these on the world market??? If so there might be a lot more coming? My old gun the serial # is one million plus

this is way too classy than any Norinco deserves .

parts bin special. found spare parts in my 1911 bin and threw everything on as soon as i received the pistol . extended safety, dlask trigger, G10 grips, ed brown mag release . love the touch of stainless.

For those who want to smooth out the slide to frame . Go to your auto parts store & get a small can of valve lapping compound . It has coarse on the bottom & fine on the top same can . Put a couple dabs on the channel & work the slide to frame with barrel & recoil spring removed . wipe off & use a little fine compound & repeat the process . It will smooth out nicely.

Well here's mine, all cleaned up and some grips installed (the default Tootsie Rolls are hatrocious!).

This was worth the wait entirely for the deal, what a steal!

Now just to send some rounds through it...:50cal:

Mine came on Friday. The grips weren't cracked, but they smelled like they'd been stashed in a Chicom's rectum for 20 years. Thank Crom for brake cleaner! New grips are a must, and I'll have to work on the trigger as my Armco Norc has spoiled me on what these pistols can be with a little work.

Also, had to pry the barrel bushing out with a screwdriver. Fit so tight that I honestly came back to the PC and looked at videos of 1911 disassembly - I thought I was doing something wrong. It looks like they staked the front sight down and contacted the bushing after assembly.

That was only a "love nip," Canthitathing!! Personally I like the sharp edges for the most part - it says "PRECISION"

(to a certain extent).

Where do you shoot, may I ask? I'm presently shopping around for a range that's both affordable and relatively near.

(I'm just north of Newmarket.) Sharon is too expensive for my budget (shame, since I was a member there some 35+

years ago, and they're fairly close) and Stouffville is indoor only, and seem to have a long probationary period.

That leaves Barrie or Orillia, and neither are close! Makes me wish I had 100+ acres in a remote area! LOL

As only an occasional shooter, I don't want to bust my budget...

Alliston and District Sportsmans Club. Range is in Beeton. I am not sure if they are taking new members at this time but a e-mail is cheap.
Base Borden Rod and Gun is just up the road as well.

Received it but got only one, just one little thing on mine that bothers me a bit:rey2........Seems like the front sight is a little bit off center.....any tricks to solve this out?

I ordered mine on 9th,June and CAM shipped on 29th,June.
Not bad at all.
Thanks CAM!
But Canpar will deliver on 5th,July end of day.
There will be 16 and 17 year old kids in the home.
I work 8AM to 7PM weekday so I am unable to receive the package.
Will Canpar give it to my kids or not?
Do I have to make a permission letter to the delivery guy
that he can give it to my kids?
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

That's a GOOD question! Are the "kids" responsible enough for you to trust them to sign for the package?

I *have* heard horror stories where CanPar just left the package on the front step.

At worst, the driver could decline to deliver and leave a "will return on..." notice.

Wishing you the best!!

(And congrats on a swift delivery time!!!)

I received mine on Thursday.First attempt was Wednesday, I left a note on the door. He DID NOT deliver it.
I called Canpar and they said "change of policy" cannot leave this package without
a sig. They brought it buy the next day and it was signed for.
buy the way, it is GREAT. I am very pleased

OK... Making my own grips without a vertical mill for accurate placement of the holes is a bit of a challenge. However - as a first attempt here's the end product. couldn't think of a checkering pattern so I put in the Japanese word Aikido (the martial art for which Aiki Nut is my moniker)

They fit on the old 1911A1. Should fit the new one.

CanPar require a signature, that's all...some questions are best left "unasked".:bangHead:
