What are you all using for cleaning rods, and where did you get them? I was looking at getting one through sinclairs but am concerned about the shipping due to their length.

Thanks

Dewey rods are good.

I have used sectional rods with great success as well. BUT I use electrical shrink tubing on each section just before the joints.

Tipton carbon rods from Bass Pro and I think I may have got one from Wholesale Sports.

Thanks guys. now I got to figure out how long of one I need. I concerned about the handle hitting the stock as the cheek piece is high enough that it has a small relief in it for bolt removal.

You will probably need to remove or lower the cheek piece to clean. If you have a long barrel, you are going to struggle to find a rod long enough otherwise.

Do you guys like the standard coated rod or are the Copper Eliminator series a good idea with the aluminum jags instead of brass?

Thanks

I just go with a Dewey coated rod and brass pierce style jags with 2 inch round patches. I am too lazy to cut my own patches and the 2" round patches are snug enough in the bore to do the job. And you don't have to #### around with patches that are too tight or too loose. If I ever use a bore brush it is a Dewey nylon brush. Foaming bore cleaner takes all the work out of cleaning.

I only clean when the groups open up so here is my cleaning method.
1. Wet patch with Shooters Choice solvent, and run the patch back and forth down the bore for 4-5 strokes.
2. Run three dry patches down the bore.
3. Squirt foaming bore cleaner down the bore
4. Have a rum and coke.
5. If bore is really dirty have another rum and coke
6. Dry patch 3-4 times
7. Wet patch with Shooter Choice and run it down the bore 4-5 stokes
8. Dry patch 3-4 times
9. Have another rum and coke
10. Repeat steps 4, 5 and 9.
