Where to find a good quality Russian SKS?

I like how everyone has a view of how much sks cost or wholesale for. If those who " know " how much those wholesale for why don't you buy for a 100 and sell for 200 make a 100 % profit!!! Put 10 000 in and make 10 000 isn't that a great profit.
Anyways you would not find those for 100 in fact prices going up all across the countries that have those. 2-3 years and those will be gone completely. Just keep sitting on the fence now you can then be sorry later.

I am going to have to go with Al on this.... Just my hunch... thats why I jumped all over it in December.

Flaming.g chicken has a bunch at a great price on the ee.i got a unwired unsecured unissued. Mint one for 250 to my door.can't beat it.wieme r jack has same ones for 400ish then tax then shipping.strife has great ones but you'll pay tax.

Russians made millions of them and China more than 10 millions of them. So I am very skeptical they will run out soon of SKS

Russia did build 2.5-3 million of them but has been selling of surplus for years, so it is possible that they are becoming more scarce. The westrifle boys are from the former USSR, so they do have some insight into what is still available. They also handpick their inventory in the former USSR countries. As for the Chinease ones I am sure they will be around for a bit longer cause of build numbers, but they are in my opinion and many others opinion a little less collectible. Prices are going up that is evident, so if your in the market for a russin one grab them while you can!!

Cheers

Funny thing , I remember when I bought my first rifle at la baron spot in Montreal ,they were selling M1 Caliber 30 Carbine, US Army surplus for $75.00 , I looked at them , they had some in near perfect condition but I was young boy and wanted a 22 semi , so the Remington came home with me .

There tons of M1's for sale for year's in Montreal , every gun shop had a pile on the floor ,,now what are they worth ,,? and try to find one ..

The US produced more than 6.5 Million of these M1 Rifles , so who is to say the Russian SKS supply could not at some point, the supply could start shrinking ..and the price will rise accordingly , like the M1 did .

I was at a local gun shop and he just got a new case of Russian SKS's , The two top rows had different years , 1950 - 1952 - 53 - 54 ,, all had no X's or referb diamond on the dust cover . I stopped pulling them out as I was now as cosmolized as well the rifles . This stores price was $ 199.99 but this shipment is now at $ 229.99 ea . and there was 3 missing from the top row .

So a $ 30.00 hick in price and he's still selling them ,,,,, I think ,,,, if you can find a Russian SKS in good condition with no X's or diamond on the dust cover At $199 or less , it's a buy ..

I suspect collectors try to get one from each year of production and the different manufacturing plants were they were made ....

I'm am new to SKS and collecting them but not new to collecting guns ,,,

Guys you see them for 199 or less buy them right away. I do not force anyone to buy mine, it is not my goal in life if you can believe. I sell premium at premium price with good quality sks. You find cheaper frankpinned SKS buy them right away.
Market is changing now how many millions were made that is one story, how many is still available for sale it is another story. They destroy them in as we speak in Russia, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

SERGEY.-

You are absolutely right.

They destroy them by the thousand each day, and some gone in the States.

As I know, for Canada, it's about finish, because we can't buy them by lot of 35,000

I bought one SKS from Weimajack absolutly top notch I bought second one from Alex at Westrifle same story top notch product

I wondering if that is why the last case I saw , a new delivery , none of the SKS's had any diamonds or x's on the stocks , are we getting the last of the hold backs that were not refurnished or had minimal work done to them , the case had 1951 , 52 - 53- 54 all mixed together on the two top rows , I did not remove the next row to check those ??

I just received 2 SKS's ,two weeks ago , one had no referb markings and all matching numbers ??

Hi Gunnutz:

I am looking to buy my first firearm and would appreciate if anyone could tell me where to find a quality Russian SKS.

Thank you.

Well I see some on the EE for like $400 sometimes.

I mean if they are asking that much for them, they have to be great quality ones right?!

:D

Seriously though, find a local dealer with crates of them and ask to dig through them, most guys will let you ;)

Don't settle for anything less than exactly what you prefer Sir!

Don't mistake hoarders for collectors.

The SKS is probably the best bang for your buck and a semi-auto battle rifle with cheap ammunition no less.

The SKS simply rocks! It is very well built, kinda like a tank, and functions even in the extreme cold! Ammo is dirt cheap and there is lots of it. Nothing bad to say about the SKS!

SKS rifles are a very good deal right now. Imagine all that machining, all steel construction and what one would be cost if made these days on this continent. My guess would be around 750.00
