Out-of-Spec Norinco 5.56 causing Major Malfunction

Wish everybody would post what gun they are shooting. From the sounds of it, it's a model issue. Yes the ammo is to blame but some guns are picky and others aren't.
I have the Su-16 and my friends has a norinco uppers and both shoot the ammo just fine. It's damn loud though!!!

I was shooting an LMT 10.5. The difference in the shoulder length is many times more than the depth of a firing pin indentation. I don't think it was a gun issue since I think any gun would not have been able to fire that cartridge given the huge out-of-spec dimensions. My LMT has been flawless through 4000+ rounds.

Hmm. I have been shooting CJ 0 paper wrapped spam can stuff and it runs great from my su16. My shooting buddies have shot the other stuff with no problems either. I find their .45 to be good too, but dirty. The muzzles on my .45's look like I used them to poke around a campfire.

Chambers vary some. It bites to do it, but you can use a Wilson cartridge headspace gage (or similar) in .223 Rem to check the ammunition for proper headspace
and set aside the non-compliant pieces.

I do that with all my serious ammunition, but I understand that can take the fun out of blasting rounds downrange.

I thought this was the Fun in buying ANY Norinco products. ..? No.. :D

In most cases, you're pretty much correct. The exception to this seems to be their milsurp SKS rifles, (considering they didn't actually make them, maybe this doesn't count..) their GI 1911's, and their M4 clones.

And their .45 ammo - that stuff is stupid amazing.

Last night my father took out a brand new Savage Axis to sight in, and I had bought 200 rounds of paper wrapped stuff from Jo Brook (I don't have one to provide the head stamp right now).

I'd say something like 1 in 4 or 5 FTF for the first strike, and out of those failures maybe 3 or 4 out of 5 were complete duds that wouldn't go off after several strikes. I don't know if it's gun or ammo or what, but I'm glad I didn't buy a spam can of the stuff. Firing pin seems to make a decent dent, perhaps a little on the shallow side, and I gather that it cannot be adjusted on the Axis.

Big fireball and lots of bark out of such a little rifle (and I was shooting my SVT-40 beside it).

My question is: is all of this Chinese ammo the same? Be it paper wrapped, yellow box, 5.56, .223? Not sure if I should try it again or not, considering not many dealers sell partial or open crates and I don't want $500 worth of fussy ammo.

you need a stronger spring in your rifle; very common in bolt guns trying to use mil-spec primers

I was thinking that might be because of military primers. Changing out the spring was one thing I hadn't considered yet. I'll have to see if I can find one somewhere. Thanks.

I've run a crate through AR15. No FTF. Accuracy was so-so, but considering the ammo came in a wooden crate for super cheap, I can't begrudge it.

I have run a bunch through my xcr, probably about 500 rounds. I get pretty good accuracy, and I have only had one problem, the back of the primer popped out and jammed the bolt. Aside form that no problems, though I do notice it spits the occasional primer, just hasn't jammed anything since. I was wondering, is the white box pretty comparable to the yellow stuff? Because that's all I have at the moment.
