Norinco 5.56 1120 Round Spam Can Deal

bacardi, I see you were asking about this ammo, personally I have run into problems with Norinco .223/5.56. I have had cracked cases straight from the box. I have also had a number of problems with loose primers. I had one primer come out while firing and get jammed between my BCG and upper receiver which in turn damaged my upper receiver by putting a gouge in it. I have had a few primers jam up my gun at other times but I was able to get them out and they did not cause any damage. Probably the worst was when a round blew out the back due to a loose primer. I pulled the mag out and it was full of smoke and all the rounds were blackened. The BCG was jammed, when I finally got it open the case was stuck in the bolt really badly. The back end of the case had expanded to fill every part of the bolt that it could. I did finally get it out but it took some time and a lot of effort.

I will finish using what I have but I will never buy it again. This is simply my personal experience, other individuals mileage may vary.

Gurkha, you're coming across as a bonafide party pooper. Norinco certainly isn't perfect -- but then no ammo is. The overwhelming consensus on the threads is that it shoots fine 99% of the time. Otherwise, you wouldn't see crate after crate going out the doors nation-wide and selling out in no time flat.

If I experienced the same troubles that you did, however, I'd certainly be gun shy myself. But so far, so good.

I don't think he is. I think Gurkha was just giving his opinion based on his personal experience. It is always good to hear both side of stories.

It certainly is good to hear both sides of the story -- keeping in mind that the vast majority are having no problems at all. And many of them are pushing thousands of rounds down barrel.

Excatly, I just wanted to give you a heads up based on my personal experience.

I do agree with you Bigfooter, I have lots of friends who shoot the Norinco .223 with no problems. Mind you, I have shot a ton of it so obviously the more you shoot the more chance a bad round can pop up. I still have tons of it left and I will continue using it until it is all gone. I just don't personally plan on buying anymore of it after that.

Best of luck

But then again if you start to compare rate of failure per a X of number of rounds between Norinco and Federal for an example, I am sure Federal is lower. :)

I have done my search, and I am looking for CGNers feedback.

The search feature is not that complicated if you take the time to learn how to use it. The default search setting is 2 weeks so I changed it to 3 months and searched norinco 223 and I came up with plenty of CGNer's feedback on this ammo:

Do you have stats to prove that? If not, how are you "sure"?

One thing certainly is "sure": Norinco 5.56 ammo is much less expensive than Federal, PMC or anything else on the market -- by a long shot. (Pardon the pun.)

Norinco: $279/1120rds (25 cents/rd)
Federal (.223): $399/1000rds (40 cents/rd)
Federal (Lake City 5.56): $500/1000rds (50 cents/rd)
PMC XP193: $469/1000 (47 cents/rd)

DO you think it will ship this year ? Thats the real question about CanAm

Speed of shipping is no concern with me -- or anyone else who maintains a stash. We add to it when opportunities like this arise. Buy cheap and stack deep. ETA? No worries. (Be happy.)

Why post this in a dealer forum?

Better in the Ammo section.....or black Rifles.

Just to illustrate the reason for posting the "Deal of the Month" here:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?942707-Can-Am-has-more-223-Norc-in-stock . That post, which soon sunk out of circulation in the Ammo section, garnered 3 replies and 135 views.

This thread is approaching 5,000 views which means more gunnutters are getting in on that deal.

And that's a very good thing. Wouldn't you agree?

Sigh... I don't have any more room...I still have 20 1600 round crates... Well, what's a few more... Although silver is on sale at a much cheaper price...

Buy both. It's called diversification.

If my latest order hasn't shipped any chance of adding some .223 to my .45 acp? I have an order comfirmation but no notice of shipping for a 1000 .45 and 3 1911 mags to Sechelt B.C.

I have some room at my place if you'd like to store it here. :)
