Yeah some axis's may shoot as good as some Tikkas, but overall they are not in the same class. Axis are ugly as sin and cycling the bolt is like nails on a chalkboard. The fit and finish on the Tikka is orders of magnitude better and I'm proud to own one. Cycling the bolt on my Tikkas makes me smile every time. The trigger on the tikka is also way better, many people consider buying a riflebasix along with the axis to be imperative, so their is quanitifiable value to that. Not to mention every Tikka I own has been capable of consistent sub 1" five shot groups at 100m, and for 600 dollar rifles, I think it's solid spent money for the fit and finish.
The axis is just fine and many shoot great, thinking of getting one to tinker with, can't really go wrong for the price point!
Go to the store and feel both, I bet you'll walk out with the Tikka.
(Do NOT get the combo package with the scope. Waste of money)
