hello

was wondering what are your pro and cons for both rifles.

the Tikka should be at the Axis price but what else.

all the best.

and thanks for your feedback.

Im not sure about the axis, but i dont like how the tikka has a aluminum recoil lug that is keyed in to the action. thats why i didnt buy a magnum cartridge in the rifle.
i have a 7mm-08 and it is an Outstandingly accurate rifle!! many MOA groups with factory and handloads...

Many won't want to admit this, but the Axis could very well be as accurate as the Tikka. Most Savage rifles shoot well...but there are reasons the Axis is as cheap as it is.

The Axis triggers I've tried were all crap.

The Axis stock is nothing to write home about either. It's worse than the generic Savage tupperware (I have an Accustock and even it's not what I'd call great).

Fit/finish and overall 'quality' of the Tikka is far superior to the Axis and is priced accordingly.

I have had 2 axis. Only got one now. The triggers suck so I put in timney. THe stock sucks something bad. No idea how to improve the stock without a custom built one. If you get the xp the scope/rings are not real great at all. It does shoot really well though.

Every tikka I have fondled felt pretty mush the same as the axis in build quality. The metal doesnt really feel like steel. Seems like there is alot of tin in the mix. They just feel cheap.

Given the choice between they 2 I would have neither. Grab a stevens 200 if you want something or $350 or step up and grab a winchester, cz, or ruger. Those 3 are the best feeling guns I have looked at.

Other than price of a spare mag I haven't found a con for the tikka i bought yet. just pick up a limbsaver recoil pad. Never owned a axis but owned 2 Stevens 200s and a model 110.

Got tired of savages. Yeah they are accurate, but had some minor annoying break downs with the savages. Mag release button fell out ( older model where release was on side of the stock). Plastic piece under hand grip fell out and cracked on one of the 200s. Still shoot able but gimmicky and just tired of savage in general.

Got a 22 heavy barrel savage bolt action too. Bolt face keeps getting dirty ( lots of rounds mind you in gopher infested areas)and won't eject shells. Gotta keep a good cleaning brush handy. Had a marlin 22 that shot thousands upon thousands of rounds. Always always ejected shells.

I would not compare the Axis apples to apples to a Tikka. They fit and finish is not the same, Tikka has better blueing, may not shoot x3 as well but at least 2x. The Axis flexing plastic release thing is super unappealing to me. Tikka's trigger is superior. I think the Axis is good value, but a Tikka it is not.

Yeah some axis's may shoot as good as some Tikkas, but overall they are not in the same class. Axis are ugly as sin and cycling the bolt is like nails on a chalkboard. The fit and finish on the Tikka is orders of magnitude better and I'm proud to own one. Cycling the bolt on my Tikkas makes me smile every time. The trigger on the tikka is also way better, many people consider buying a riflebasix along with the axis to be imperative, so their is quanitifiable value to that. Not to mention every Tikka I own has been capable of consistent sub 1" five shot groups at 100m, and for 600 dollar rifles, I think it's solid spent money for the fit and finish.

The axis is just fine and many shoot great, thinking of getting one to tinker with, can't really go wrong for the price point!

Go to the store and feel both, I bet you'll walk out with the Tikka.

(Do NOT get the combo package with the scope. Waste of money)
