Got mine *incredibly* quick. Like, seriously less than a week from order, to my door, and that's in Ontario! Great job CanadaAmmo. Now one question, my left grip was cracked, what's the policy on that now? I'm not terribly averse to getting aftermarket grips, but is CanadaAmmo replacing them?

Don't bother, the factory grips are pretty fugly to begin with, I doubt they will have add any sort of resale value to it as a "collector" piece since there are so many of these things out there, and on top of that, who's to say the replacements from Norinco won't crack? Just spend a few bucks and get some replacement grips that you'll be happy with. I think these things were cheap for a reason - they're not safe queens to be fondled gently and cherished.

One of the first things I did with mine was take off the grips before cleaning, and they never went back on after assembly, haha!

Yeah, I already ordered some cheap grips, but they'll be a couple months (not sure if I'm allowed to mention where I bought them, but it's a certain site with free shipping from china). 13 bucks for wraparound grips (not rubber, but hey, fobus holster was only $14 too!).

Go for it Karl. A fellow can't have too many handguns. I have three Sig clones 2 226's and a 228 and two 1911 and I have to say all five are very well built and perform flawlessly. I tried posting a pic from my FB page but couldn't get it to work. I just put some gorgeous inlaid grips on my CanAm 1911 and they look awesome. Came from Costa Rica, Ordered a set for my other 1911 also. The next set are contoured with a thumb rest and a palm support, Can't wait for them to arrive.

Somebody. PLEASE give me a GOOD reason why I should NOT

get a THIRD combo!!!!! I am *SO* tempted!!!

Diversification. I thought about a third 1911A1, and like you got one good looking one and one so-so looking one (which will likely become the "project gun" for mostly cosmetic changes at first). Instead of a third 1911A1 (because I don't want to end up with two "project" guns), I opted for a couple of the 5.56 crates and a DPMS Oracle.

Here's mine after having some work done, sorry I missed the cat hair on the thumb safety when I was taking the picture lol...

It shoots great! 600 rds down the pipe with no malfunctions whatsoever... Only thing is sometimes it won't fully chamber the first round of a mag, I have to tap the slide lightly into battery, anyone know what could be causing that?

Not from personal experience yet, but some folks on this site have said that if you release the slide with the slide stop instead of pulling the slide all the way back with a magazine in and full, you may get what you have described!
Cheers Bob

Hmm I have been using the slide stop lever... I put in a shock-buff so I can't use the "slingshot" method, I'll take it out and see if the problem continues.

Thanks!

what is wrong with your trigger?

...What do you mean? I had a trigger job done, and it feels great, breaks crisply at 3lbs and has no overtravel whatsoever.

If you are talking about the fact it looks a bit crooked, I think that has to do with the trigger guard of the Nork being crudely shaped, there's a bump in the middle.

I think he is asking about your choice of trigger design

Lol ya I guess it does look weird compared to the usual 1911 trigger... I have pretty long fingers, find that a long flat trigger feels best for my hands.

Got mine out to the range yesterday and she shot GREAT! Not a single FTF or FTE, and the accuracy was right up there with either of my Colt 1911A1s. Has anyone else noticed that their slide is actually a nice deep plum colour a la a SVT40 bolt??? Kinda neat!

I'm happy!

Hey man, nice work overall. The trigger looks different....haha, just not for me I guess but you gotta go with what's comfortable.

Question about your grip safey and skeleton hammer. I ordered the Wilson Combat semi-drop in one because I heard it goes straight in with little no no fitting, but I got a little overzealous and ordered a bunch of other stuff like a S&W hammer, Wilson Combat Trigger, and a Springfield Armoury MSH. All claim to be semi-drop in parts. The only problem is I've been doing some more reading, and I've read that sometimes the hammer strut assembly can be a pain to take apart, and often times the hammer strut pin ends up getting destroyed in the removal process. I took a look at the Norc one, and it looks like Norinco has staked the pin in (haven't tried take it apart yet), did you install just the hammer onto the factory Norinco hammer strut using the original pin, or did you build a whole new assembly? Are you using the factory Norinco sear and disconnector or an aftermarket ones as well?

After reading about the nightmares of taking apart the Norinco hammer strut assembly, I ordered a S&W hammer strut, hammer strut pin, sear and disconnector just in case.

Haha, in retrospect, I probably should have just left the entire thing alone and kept it box stock.

I've polished the sear and the back of the trigger bow, and stoned lightly the top, bottom and sides of the trigger bow, and it slips and slides around in the frame - and the trigger pull is a lot smoother, too.. Not lighter, but it feels that way because it's smoother.
Ammo's kinda hot but that's OK.

Sold one to an,,'STRANGE" friend, phoned yesterday and is elated with his "Chinese Colt!" He has had Colt 1911's of every description,, but he is impressed, no FTF or FTE, that he can't claim with his originals,, He,, Wanted the phone#,, don't like computer! Mine works flawlessly,, all of em! Thx Canam And the Yankee bros can't get them or the ammo deal.........

Has anyone replaced the barrel bushing on their new Norinco 1911? If so how do you like it, and where did you get yours. Mine is kinda loose and misshapen.

thanks
