Any of these little 17's make it up to Canada yet? If you have one, what do you think of it? (cartridge, and rifle)

Better yet, if anybody knows where there is one - please send me a private message. :)

I built one on a 77 Hornet a few years ago... an improved 17 Hornet - cute little cartridge... quite quiet for gopher shooting, good for 200 yards... sold it a few years ago with the brass and dies. I have the reamer if anyone wants it... PM me.

I ordered one through Prophet River out of Lloydminster last October and got a call from them in November telling me that my rifle was in. As far as I know, it was the first and possibly only one shipped to Canada. Before I took it out to the range to sight it in and see what it could do, I had a Volquartsen sear installed that reduced the triggers pulled substantially. After sighting the rifle in, the first two three shot groups were in the 3 inch inch range and the more I shot it, the smaller the groups shrank. After a box and a half of ammunition the rifle was putting five shots into a half inch group at one hundred meters. I was very happy with this because I had just sold my Savage 17 Hornet that was a very good shooter but did find that the bolt felt a little gritty as I cycled the rounds into the chamber. The wind started picking so I decided to wait for a calmer day in the spring to see what it would do at two and three hundred meters. I have been working 700 kilometers from home the last three months so I haven't had the chance to test it at further distances yet.

I have the Hornady dimension reamer on hand as well, as planned to do a custom before these factory offerings started trickling in. Couldn't say no to the ammo as I know it'll be rare and it was reasonable, and in stock, so I bought all they had. Much as I like wildcats so nice to just buy and shoot, and no case forming.

I fitted a scrap barrel for fire forming and fire formed 300 brass just using powder and a wax plug... then installed the good barrel... guys at the range were sure wondering what I was doing, sitting there firing one after another as fast as I could... and no target set up... and that barrel got hot!

Hi Camp Man, Where did you purchase and what type of Volquartsen sear did you install? I imported the same rifle and was wondering about improvements with the trigger pull people are complaining about. Any guidance would be appreciated.
