So I fixed up an old cooey, nothing too too crazy but certainly far from what it was. as of right now im looking to mount a scope. I have two weaver part numbers but am finding mixed reviews on which I need and what exactly the best way to go about it is. It does have the holes drilled for the side mount. but has no grooves in the receiver. Being that at I have other financial priorities I'd like to lean towards the cheaper end of the scale, that said if I can get something decent for a reasonable price; probably check the EE later when I have more time, I'll do that. Essentially what is most cost effective but not necc just the cheapest option (for the scope that is, the mount I'd like to know where to find it the cheapest, or even used!)

so cliffs-

-cooey 600 running rabbit with factory drill/tap for scope but no grooves in the receiver

-looking for suggestions on a scope, decent but not crazy expensive or total garbage

-also need to know what mounts Ill need, from the info I have it looks like I can get either weaver #48402 OR weaver #49350 but I seem to find ppl saying I need both, as well as ppl saying neither of these numbers are applicable.

I've got a tasco 4x32, that is surprisingly clear! I had it on my 10/22, and it worked great. Pm me if you want it.
Decent scope at a small price. Can't complain there.

im not so concerned with going period correct, right now im just looking for a decent scope and the appropriate mounts. that said, those two listed above are going to run me ~80-90 $ just for the mount, seeing that most of the other mounts I saw when I was browsing were 10-20 bucks it seems to me there must be a cheaper option, or im misinformed and only need one of the above

to get something period correct that functions would be great, but to be honest Ive seen a couple cheap scopes that would fit the bill if I can just find a mount. in fact I have a .177/.22 pellet/rimfire scope on a pellet gun and the thing was suprisingly really accurate. not bad for 6 bucks scope and mount haha

really all im after is a functional scope at a price I can justify, of course cant argue with cheaper too

I used the weaver side mount base and then the attached rings that attach to that. Put a $50 simmons on it as well and it is awesome. I haven't shot it in a while but I remember it hitting what I aimed at and have only heard good things from friends I lent it out to. Being less popular the side mount route was actually kind of expensive for a little project like that, the whole thing including scope worked out to be $110 if I remember.

I bought a cheap bushnell 3-9 off the EE and it is an EXCELLENT scope for the low price I paid. I couldn't be happier.

The challenge with these is always proper eye relief and good cheek rest.. But the difference from the cooey iron sights is night n day!

As you can see my scope is mounted as far forward as it can possibly go.

I'm not going to say you won't have better experiences with a $$$$ scope but .. it's a 22.

I can shoot shotgun shells dead center at 50ft and break clays first shot at 100m. What more could you ask for?

Nobody would believe me if I said that my Cooey 600 is the most accurate .22 I have ever had. I have had Anschutz M54 and CZ's and rugers and winchesters and remingtons. The Cooey always outshot each and everyone of them. Didn't matter what ammo brand either. The Anschutz is gone, the winnie is gone, the remmy is gone, the ruger is going but the Cooey will stay. lol Stupid eh!

I believe! Testify brothers!
...one my most accurate .22's ever was a Cooey 75. It(they) came up again in the EE. When I saw them they were already SPF. My first n' fav .22 is a Cooey 64.
