S&w m&p 9

dont think so. check s&w sku #109251 produced to be compliant in Mass or one of those "special" states. there were some kits sold in Ont with the 10# compliant trigger I looked at a few with that sku when I bought my pro 9

I'm a big fan of the M&P series ;) I have a 9C for daily wear until I get fully comfortable with the CORE (then the 9C will replace my 642 as a BUG).

How is the optic holding up on the CORE model? I have an itch to build an Open Gun of sorts using the CORE as a base. What optic did you install?

Just an update, local dealer has more 9's in stock now. Just waiting for the transfer to go through. Usually is a pretty speedy process but apparently the building that the CFO's office is located is under construction and things have slowed down a bit.

Good - I'm using a Delta Point -- mainly because 1) I had it already 2) I'm friendly with Leupold 3) They have a lifetime warranty that will replace it if something goes wrong.

Zeroing was a PITA - due to the lock screws for the adjustment get blocked partially by the rear sight.

I took this yesterday doing my backyard "lunch" break.
It may be hard to see the rear locking screws in the rear of the DP in the pic though. The T5 wrench I have will not fit with the DP installed -- I lost the L shaped T5 they send with it, and did not need it for the dovetail factory mount they have.

However once I got it done I have been very happy accuracy wise with the gun I shot a sub 3" 25m group with it earlier -- and I am getting faster picking up the dot.
My speed drills from concealed still need work though - as I am pulling them a little left and low -- its still a new gun with less than 500rds thru it though so I expect better when it wears in, and I get used to it.

Thanks Kevin

You will soon be able to use it in IDPA matches at club matches if the MD OK's it. I was thinking the .40cal might be more versatile if I wanted to shoot Open Division. Only a matter of time before we have an Optic Division in IDPA. Optics will be the future for LEO's in the US. Juries out on CCW but optics aren't a bad option for Seniors and the next few years the grey hairs will be far more prevalent than they are today.

CCW is my main application -- I don't think the open window MRDS are a viable option for Green Mil operations - but for HR stuff, LEO and others they offer some pretty good advantages - especially low light and moving.

The most interesting thing I have noticed in the use on a pistol is the acceptance of a wobble zone and working on my breaking the shot correctly - a wobble I did not necessarily see with irons as readily.

I bought my first M&P back in 2007 when they first came to Canada. Had two others since. I liked them better than Glocks until gen4 models came out... I still think M&P is a good gun but I prefer others; Beretta, CZ and gen4 Glocks.

Great thread - I was leaning towards the M&P 9 now I am definitely going this route with all this information. Question - range kit or pro? New shooter here. Thanks

Go with the 5" Pro if you can find one. It has longer sight radius and better trigger than the kit model.

When I picked mine up at the store they had the range kit there and also the 5" Pro C.O.R.E model. To be completely honest, the trigger felt better on the range kit gun. Maybe just a slight bit heavier, but the reset was more audible/positive. If they had the 4.25" C.O.R.E model there I may have gotten that one, just preference on the look/barrel length.

The CORE guns definitely represent the future in pistols, the ability to mount an optic on a 'carry' gun is a major step forward. So much so that I'm selling an HK45 to fund the purchase of an M&P CORE and optic.

I completely agree, it will be the future. However for now, I think I'll stick with regular sights for two reasons. The first, I'm new to pistols and I want to use the sights are get comfortable pistol shooting before I go all out. The range kit is a sensible and reasonable starting point. Secondly, I'd rather wait and see if there are optics designed to withstand the recoil, slide specific designs. As others have mentioned in other threads, it isn't a matter of it will fail, but when it will fail. I'm sure given a bit of time the technology/products will improve to better suit the application.
