Hey everyone i know this gets posted a lot, but iv looked and searched and cant seem to find what im looking for.

i want to buy a new light weight m305 stock, that is able to accept a AR style stocks or folding stocks, the reason is i'm into that new "preppers" world so to speak, and i am trying to shed weight on my m305, right now i just have the usgi stock.
i prefer a pistol grip because i have gorilla arms and my hands are big so i wouldnt mind not hitting my face every time i shoot f:P: haha.

i think it would be a good thing to make a sticky about m305 stocks as well, different styles, weights and the websites and pictures. it would be helpful. :)
thanks everyone for taking the time to read me post!!

Rob! cheers:cheers:

"...trying to shed weight on my m305..." Whatever for? Anyway, it'll cause the muzzle jump to increase. Not the felt recoil, just the muzzle jump. Have a real semi'd M14 with the issue fibreglas stock and issue FH. Muzzle jumps high.
I believe there are all kinds of synthetic stocks available. Getting one in Canada may be an issue though. One with a pistol grip certainly will be. No pistol gripped stock other than the E2 was ever used by the U.S. military. In any case, 'ape arms' gets fixed by a longer stock, not a pistol grip.

i want shed weight because its just my thing, :p im not %100 sure wat muzzle jump is tbh, im not making this thing a snipers rifle, its a tool that i want to be comfertable and shoot reasonably well which it already does. if its off by half an inch at 100 yards so be it im not rescuing people in a hostage situation. as for pistal grip i find it more ergonomic to me. plus i like being able to adjust my L.O.P

Rob, look no further than your home grown Blackfeather "RS" from M14.ca

No pistol gripped stock other than the E2 was ever used by the U.S. military.

Except for the thousands of SAGE EBR stocks currently used by the U.S. military.

Sunray's post is full of fail. Continue your research a bit and you will find most of what he said above is wrong or not applicable to your case. Muzzle rise on any M305 is a non issue.

Vltor, lighter than the aluminum cheese graters (black feather, troy, sage)
Adjustable but stock height and availlable thru Armtac I believe.

I've seen photo's of US marines and other personel, equiped with Mcmillan MFS stocks and sage stocks and I think vltor as well. Dunno if those are on duty photos or not but Sunray is a "little" off the mark this time hehehe

The OP wants light, Vltor is the lightest.
There is a canadian outfit working to bring the stock I used to make (m14s-cqb) back into the market but that's not anything I can elaborate on as I'm no longer involved.

Armtac has been sold out of almost every m14 piece he sells for a long time now!

I wanted the vltor originaly but couldn't find one anywhere! Or even anyone who could order it for me!

Several of the Vltors I've weighed, with issue butstock and pistol grip installed, weigh more or less 2 lbs 13oz ready to go.
About the same as a usgi fiberglass with a M1A rubber pad ;)

All of my GI fiberglass stocks are heavy pigs, noticeably heavier than GI walnut stocks.

The Blackfeather is light, lighter than any other pistol grip M1A stock that I have sampled.

The Vltor is nice, but it's not designed to enhance accuracy like the EBR and RS are, so it's not on my radar.

Here is some data I have collected over the years.

Chinese black plastic stock with sling swivel 3lbs 7oz.
with railed front

US GI fibre glass stock with metal, unfilled F/A notch 2lbs 9oz.

Dry Chinese Chu wood stock with sling swivel 2lbs 8oz.

US GI fibreglass stock, no butt padd, as issued 2lbs 5oz.

Butler Creek folder on GI glass forestock with 2lbs 15oz. pistol grip

Troy lower only with YHM butt and Troy ferrule 3lbs 6 1/2oz.

Troy lower with YHM butt and Troy H/G 4lbs. 11oz. (railed HG + Ferrule, 1lb. 6 1/2oz.)

Troy Rifle Stock 3.96lbs.

Weight/Barreled Actions

18.5" Shorty, CASM/GLFS/Comp/No Mag 6lbs. 3oz.

22" Standard, CASM/New ORG 5lbs. 13oz.

Blackfeather stock, final prototype with pistol grip 2.22lbs.

Blackfeather stock, final prototype with carbine end plate, steel oprod guide, as pictured (three bolts are missing from this photo, pistol grip bolt, ORG bolt and buttstock adapter bolt, they are irrelevant to the discussion).

Here is my current rifle setup at 8.8lbs. I still have work to do here, the sling is not adding any weight to this picture.

I would like to see the weights of more composite rifle stocks. I have never owned a Sage EBR, therefore, I do not know the weight. When I owned a VLTOR product, I did not weigh in.

Good to see the comparisons
I'm certainly not trying to preach the merits of Vltor LOL
But I've used and installed almost every pistol grip stock that has been in production (except the now defunct Mcann) and the vltor was certainly light and handy
I guess right now, in canada, you really have very few options.
