Whoa, that's a beaut. We found a decent (but not as nice as that) 5x6 dead during season. Probably wounded and then taken down by coyotes from what was left at the scene. We went back and saved the rack after hunting was wrapped up for the year. Hopefully that guy got a chance to spread a little DNA around your neck of the woods before he went.

I'm guessing that the OP is a bachelor, or he has a very understanding wife...I shudder to think about the fallout for putting a dirty, probably still smelly deer skull in the middle of the kitchen table! :)

In all seriousness, great find. If you plan on doing a European mount, bleach the skull with hydrogen peroxide and not actual bleach.

My money is on an understanding wife (or more likely a wife that was not present during the photoshoot)! Look around, that home is too nicely decorated for any bachelor I've ever known :D.

Very cool find!

I found a dead Owl at work, and I had to see the CO to make sure I didn't kill it to keep it. And on that peace of paper I also seen Antlers. I'm not to sure about this now, but I think it is against the Wildlife Act to posses antlers if you don't have a tag for it. So please don't get me wrong here and I don't want to cause sh@t here. I like your find and I'm a hunter myself. But just in case maybe check with your local CO to see if it is legal to posses it.

Sorry, but I just can't see the glory in it that you guys are expressing!
I just see a run of the mill, mid sized three point mule deer head, which happens to have gone non typical.
Lots of hunters leave such heads in the bush, staying legal by leaving evidence of ### on the hind quarter.
Non typical antlers are commonly found on bucks that are past their prime in years. So, it may have been an old buck, or there may have been some other reason for it being non typical.

Cool antler configuration. I'm assuming your cabin isn't in Richmond, as that would be a crazy black tail rack! :)

There was a guy that submitted a Zone 5 Mulie as a Blacktail. I believe he got a finger up his a## from the record book people. I don't see him on CGN much anymore.

I hope that one banged a LOT of does. Like a serious playa.

Just cool genes, that's all.
