got mine today. She feels alright! came with a spare set of rubber grips that I threw on right away, since they feel better than the cheap plastic ones. This is my first handgun. I'm going to be shooting it very soon.

for anyone in eastern Ontario wondering how long it takes, I ordered mine on the 5th and received it on the 13th. That's 8 days all in! and the 5th was a holiday! My package also arrived 3 days early, which I was kind of impressed with.

I have a number of the CanAm 1911s, plus 3 came through me for others. In each case I clipped 3 coils off the hammer spring. All still fire all ammo reliably. It helped the triggers drop from around 8-9 pounds to around 5-6 pounds.

I also bent the left two tines on the flat spring back a bit, to reduce the tension on the sear and trigger.

Triggers on all guns are now much better. Some are creep free, some have some creep. removing creep requires some special skills. don't try this at home....

Hey, thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. I have two Norcs at home, one from this deal, and a Police model, both have pretty heavy trigger pulls. One of these weekends, i'm going to see fi I can do that home-brew park job.
 
Just got an update on my third combo, Sharknado discount in,, A combo and 1 extra dlask mag,,$496.07 Taxes and shipping included! Nobody can beat these guys, so without the extra mag it would be less than $475. With all the crazy math that went on earlier, lets just say 50/50 , so $237.50 for the gun and the same for the ammo?? delivered,, Taxes in!! if I had the cash I would buy 10!
Canam, I don,t know hows ya does it But I knows ya does it!! And I am glad!

How to clip coils for those who want to but are nervous.

make sure gun is empty.

Hammer down. With a small punch or screwdriver or nail, punch out the pin at the bottom rear of the grip frame. It comes out easily if the hammer is not cocked.

Slide out the arched mainspring housing.

It contains a lightly compressed spring with a steel pin/cup on the top.

On the serrated side you will see a small hole. On the backside you can see the head of the pin that sits in that hole. The pin has a head on it, like a miniature nail. The pin is not in there tight.

Put the housing in a vice, serrated side up, or sideways. Use a screw driver or rifle cartridge to push in on the mainspring cup. this takes the load off the pin, which will now push out easily. Don't drop the pin. It is small.

Release the pressure on the mainspring, and it will stick out a half inch. Pull it out. It has a steel plug stuck in it at both ends.

Pull the base pin out and clip 3 coils off the bottom of the spring.

Put the bottom plug back in, give the spring/plugs a drop of oil, and put back into the housing.

Compress the spring with something and put the pin back in. You can do this with your fingers. Note that the pin is inserted from the back of the housing.

Slide the housing back into the frame. Shake the pistol a bit to get the hammer strut (the rod you see sticking out the bottom of the grip safety) to engage into the cup on the top of spring, then slide the housing all the way in. It will be slightly compressed. Push the bottom of housing onto the bench and put the pin back in. It will need a light tap to pop it in.

Hammer will now #### easier and trigger will be a bit lighter.

Got my combo to the range tonight. Shot great, cycled good but one of the mags likes to hold the last 2 rounds and causes a fail to feed properly on the second to last, the final round feeds fine after getting past the second one. With some tweaking on the mag I would say everything is perfect.

My bluing is good and the tooling marks are not bad at all. I tore it down and soaked everything with nitro cleaner, then cleaned it all up and oiled it well before bringing it to the range. The dried up grease it comes with is not so nice. My plastic grips are not cracked and sufficient for shooting, I requested the black rubber ones but did not receive them (possibly because my plastic ones were ok). Thanks for such a great deal CanAm, looking forward to doing more business.

I had issues with my mags as well, didn't bother with them, just got a pair of Wilson Combat ones to replace them.
 
For those who are wondering, I went to the range with Pavementsurfer and his duracoated piece. She shoots and feels beautiful. That coating is fantastic. Also adds a big time cool factor! Well worth the investment!
 
Hey guys, how hard is it to move the things such as the safety and mag release to the right side of the gun? I shoot left handed and that's one of the things that constantly gets me. Ganderite, I like your comparison of the various triggers...I have small hands and if it comes short like your picture it might work very well for both the wife and I to share this one!

BTW, what the heck is "sharknado" and how is it that one guy could save $171 from a combo deal that's $499?
 
Sharknado is a movie that just came out in the last couple of months, and people are factoring in the savings if they bought the gun and ammo separate. The gun is around 350, the ammo around 320 to 325 for a 670 total. 670-499= 171 in savings. That is what people are factoring in.

I've never seen a safety on the other side, has it been done? I know there are plenty of ambi safeties out there on the market.
 
Just installed a Wilson combat extended mag release and a wilson combat "bullet proof" sear spring. All by myself I might add. The gun feels a little nicer and easier to handle with my oompa loompa sandwich clamps. Next on my list is a new hammer and trigger. Eventually a new grip safety and a cool main spring housing. Oh, and grips.

Let's see some pics! I love seeing what other people have done. I modded one of these, and returned it back to stock, but I just picked up another one and if it doesn't sell on EE, I'll keep it and mod it. Shhhhh, don't tell the wife.
