Wow, I didn't even know the CZ-557s had left Czech yet... I thought they were super new.
OP, I definitely think you found a prototype!

Seriously, I didnt see where the OP stated where he bought it from. Anyone see where from???
The OP is a man of few words...only 8 posts to date. Maybe he's just trying to "wet our whistles"?Seriously, I didnt see where the OP stated where he bought it from. Anyone see where from???
That sounds like an interesting focus group, can you tell us anything else about the criteria?I finally had a look at the pictures .........looks to me like someone custom ordered a rifle from CZ and it got sold to another customer........the wood stock would have excluded it from trials.
I was a part of the focus group for the new rifle......

I have the completed proposal document on my desk at work........If I can find it I'll post up a link to the paper and you can see the entire thing.
As for the focus group it was sort of like a committee put together to build a race horse.......somehow you end up with a camel in the Kentucky Derby......lol
It felt at times like the outcome was already decided by the wants of Rangers in 1CRPG (The North) and what would work best for them. As for all those suggesting semi-auto.......ain't gonna happen........too much hand wringing from the powers that be.......we are already the only unit in the CF permitted to have our issued service rifle at home.....can you imagine the chaos that would result if we had semi -auto .308's![]()
And at our last meeting we were told they were looking at changing that!![]()
Do rangers get payed?
Nothing from BC Coy HQ or 4CRPG HQ along those lines...........I'll be asking thoughAnd at our last meeting we were told they were looking at changing that!![]()
I would say your observations have been very limited then..........IMHOAnd if you've been up there, there are a myriad of reasons for this to happen. From my observation, poor cleaning habits/ massive rust issues, loaning your rifle to family and friends and sale of government ammo and use of that ammo for private hunting being the main reasons. Lets not even get into the crime aspects...
You might want to check where I'm from....
We were told that we were no longer allowed to use our issued rifles to hunt unless we were card carrying natives...
My patrol is made up of mostly trappers and professionals who make sure their equipment is clean and ready to go and really have no need to sell the ammo, its far more fun to shoot free ammo! Why risk a good paying job for a $20 box of .303 British ammo, because the MPs will figure it out, and you will go to a military prison for it out here... we're close enough to a large center that we couldn't get away with it...
