So I'm in the process of upgrading from a PAL to RPAL. I had confirmed delivery of my test results and application on July 10th. My credit card was charged on July 28th. As of now my application has still not completed initial processing. I'm starting to get a little frustrated with the lack of progress, considering that its been over 45 days, and they charged me almost a month ago. I call every two days now for updates, despite the fact that they keep telling me to call back in a week.

As you should... but also start raising hell with your MP etc as well.. only way this BS will end and CC it to all the "powers" that be
well if they ever get caught they can lose there licence and store licence prity much lose everything , any place out hear wont even think of handing you a Restricted handgun but they will talk to you about them just wont let you handle them .
if it makes you feel a bit better I did my None Restricted on May 20th and then did my Restricted on June 15th and they got my applications on June 20th and just on Wednesday August 21st got my Interview done and Licence Issued . So ya by the time I get my licence its gona be close to the 70 day waiting point .

Both of our applications appeared online (both old and new site) as "In Progress", when I called in they said they weren't ready to interview me yet and to call back next week.
August 21
My wife called in, they did the interview with her and I called at the same time, they did my interview as well, we both gave the reference numbers and extensions to the references who called in within an hour of us. It now shows "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)".
August 29
Received both of our RPALs in the mail today so total since they received our applications to when we got them in the mail is 73 days. Not as bad as I thought it would be!

Is that really the case? I wouldn't think it would be illegal as long as the salesperson is licensed and you are under his direct supervision. I did run into that a lot before I got my license, but it's store policy not law as far as I know.

Completely NOT true.. there is nothing illegal or prohibited about such whatsoever. I don't know where you got that BS but it def is anything but true.
As for any place that would not.. as I said I'd tell them ok I'll take my business elsewhere.
I mailed my application out May 29, they charged my credit card june 5th. I have called about every 2 weeks from july 15th, Interviews completed august 12th, called today I'm waiting for CFO approval. IT FEELS LIKE AN ETERNITY
Not just you, I'm on the same boat as well. Upgrade from PAL to RPAL, it's kinda stuck at the same spot.

Mine took 5 weeks to show up online.
Here's my application process:
1. Mailed in my application last week of May 2013 (without the CFSC/CRFSC results).
2. Received my CFSC/CRFSC results around June 14, 2013.
3. Mailed my results to RCMP on June 17, 2013.
4. Received a letter dated July 31, 2013, that they did not receive my proof of CFSC/CRFSC results.
5. So, i faxed the results on August 12, 2013.
6. Called in on August 13, 2013 to confirm fax receival. They interviewed me at the same time.
7. They called my references within the next two days, and interviewed them.
8. Received my license yesterday, August 28, 2013. Well excited
... took about 3 months.
