Shorten PAL Approval Times

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Followed the guide,was told 2 weeks ago that the CFO had my application,so thought I would call them today.
I am glad I took the chance and called as within 5mns my PAL application had been approved,just needs printed,and posted now :)
 
Wish that would happen for me. I called for the second time this Thursday and they said my application was still waiting for CFO approval. :bs: my interviews were completed on Aug 12th.
 
It's been nearly 2 weeks since I was told that the CFP would be sending a letter with a request for a new reference. I phoned today to see what the hell was going on, and I was told that the letter was only shipped out today. Guess what? I move to Calgary tomorrow, jackasses.
 
Hey whats up guys. I mailed my application on August 5th. I was pretty stupid and sent it in as regular mail rather then registered. I have been calling them every week and checking online. My application is not even in their computers yet. Sigh.
 
They had an influx of applications due to a deadline of sorts. Can't remember off the top of my head what it was though. For the last few months its been taking 2-6 weeks to have the application show up online. First thing they do is enter your name into the computer and cash your cheque/charge card. As soon as that happens I'd give them a call. If you waited for your results to come in before you mailed it, at least all the info is in. If you're going for just a PAL, keep calling once a week and if you're lucky it will move quickly. If its for RPAL phone once a week and ask if any info is missing, then while you're on the phone ask to do your interview. The. Have your references call in too. Best advice is keep on them and good luck. They received my app May 16 and I'm still waiting so be patient.
 
Applying for PAL and RPAL in Ontario. Time from applying to interview=99 days. I gave up calling a few weeks back, might have saved a few days if I had kept it up but was getting tired of being on hold only to be told call back in 3 weeks. Have been a member of local gun club for last 2 months with nothing to shoot. They were debating putting a hold on new members so I joined to beat the membership freeze.

-May 30 RPAL mailed registered mail
-June 3 Application received byRCMP
-July 1 28 day waiting period over
-July 5 Payment processed (32 days)
-July 8 Called and got application number (35 days)
-July 10 FAXed in PAL and RPAL text results
-Aug 6 Application shows up online (64 days)
-Sept 9 (99 days) Called them to ask "what the ####?"....interview completed on the spot. Reference#1 also calls in and gives interview. Told me to call back a week after final interview to get an update. I'm moving on September 20th...that ought to throw another big hairy monkey wrench into the mix as these pinheads will likley move my application to a "change address pile" and I'll be waiting even longer.

So I'll be 100 days from start just to the interviews. Guess I am looking at another 3 weeks if I am lucky. Will update final time frames then, hopefully at less than 130 days.

Sigh.... I was so excited that I would perhaps be able to go to the gun show on the 6th and perhaps find a good deal on a nagant or a sks to buy. Gona have ask someone to buy it for me then transfer it to me when i get my RPAL, if that is even possible.

I already bought my first rifle, kinda. I paid for it, buddy is holding it. Once my Rpal shows up he hands it over. No need to "transfer" anything, he just puts sold to me on original bill of sale.
 
how long does it take to receive the results back from CFO? Its been 2 and 1/2 weeks and i'm still waiting on the results and haven't mailed my application either. What do u guys suggest?
 
Mail in your app NOW!!!! Once it's in the system you will get an account number. Once you receive your test results, phone them and fax in your papers. Once they're faxed in phone again to make sure someone walked to the fax machine and not the microwave when it beeped.
 
Howdy all, and thanks for the tips in this thread. Chronology so far:
RPAL course passed- 21 June
Paperwork received in Mirimichi- 27 June (what a waste of $17 for registered mail)
CC dinged - 9 July
Application appeared online- Early to mid August (Was on vacation, didn't hit the RCMP website as often)
Called in for my interview- 10 Sept
Awaiting references to call in.... Might just make it to a local gun show on the 21st

UPDATE:
Status online changed to 'issued'- 20 Sept YEEEE-HAW ...but will have to treat the gun show like a strip bar...all look, no touch. Oh well.

FURTHER UPDATE:
Sept 30: Licence arrived. Too bad I was out of town
Oct 11: Package arrived from Marstar. :dancingbanana: just have to get over this damn cold.

Finally got my PAL/RPAL in Quebec

Mailed app May 12
Signed for on May 15
Missed calls for interviews (me and refs)
Interviews September 3 (me and refs)
Issued September 3
Got it in mail today September 10

Time to shop :D
