Tree stand thieves

Its hard to prove that he never brought the log from somewhere else. A stump now, that would be the queen's and if HRH showed up he should walk away backwards while bowing.

So your saying that if you ran into another hunter who only planed to use that one spot all season you would try to beat him in every morning and night to spite him? I would find another spot. you guys are like that dude from "herlad and kumar go to white castle". herld is pissing on a bush and and he come out of nowhere to piss on the same bush in the middle of the forest then when herold goes WTF, he raises a stink about how he can use it to its a public bush and herold has no claim to it.
Get a life and move on, if you want to use a tree stand bring one yourself and give common courtesy and leave the other hunter gear alone. if you want "the sweet spot" get there first and setup, don't begrudge another guy for setting himself up for a good season. If you seriously are incapable of finding another clearing or game trail to watch in a forest and need to steal another hunters setup and location he is using; you really need to give your head a shake and sort your life out or find a new pass time.

Nuh-uh. Staking a claim on crown land for a full season is too much. You want to park your butt there for a few days, sure. But a full season? That's grounds for having your stand disappear. There's a line between sharing the land and staking out a claim.

I'm saying that leaving your treestand in place can be viewed as claiming that spot even when you're not there. You seem to agree, but think its a good thing. I don't even use treestands, finding that style hunting extremely boring. Well, almost never.

What you aren't getting is this... using a tree stand does not entitle you to have a spot to yourself for an entire seaon.... or even for a day for that matter... you are on public land and as such leaving a tree stand there is abandonment and anyone is free to use it.... if you built a fire pit alongside a public lake and came back one day to find someone else using it would you be upset because that was "your fire pit" and therefore your area?.... what about people who stalk their game like myself.... would you be upset if you were sitting in your "throne" as king of the forest and I walked through and disturbed a hunt in "your area".... what if someone uses common sense and brings a pop up blind to hunt and has scouted the same area as you only to come back to find you have "Claimed the area" by installing a tree stand?... Should he now have to leave out of "Courtesy"......
 
LordEvilPepper, just an innocent question for you....do you understand the difference between public land and privately owned land? Perhaps once you have matured a bit you will then understand that leaving your personal property unattended on public land, gives you NO special rights... and in fact by doing so, you are actually infringing on the rights of others and interferring with their legal hunt.
Once you have left an area, you are no longer hunting it and leaving your stand believing you have laid claim to the area is unfounded.
Good luck on your next hunt! Hopefully your stand will still be there when you return!

no your not, by preparing a location your creating a hunting set. It is unlawful to interfere with a hunting set, and entering it can be considered interference. It is not abandonment of property unless it is left for 90 days thats law unless you can prove it has not been used or visited for 90 days you can't take it or use it it still belongs to the owner, same applies to all personally owned items and equipment regardless of where they are left. Hence why permanent stands left up all year on public land are fair game.

Oddly, I seem to find game without resorting to dirty tricks or pissingmatches on public land. My life is well sorted and progressing nicely, thanks.

Please enlighten us all on what a "hunting set" entails... If you put up a feeder or a bait pile 100 yards from this tree stand does this now become part of your special "hunting set" area that people can't hunt in without being charged by your imaginary special set of "interfering with a hunt" rule?... It appears you have no actual clue about the true meaning of thw word "courtesy" you keep throwing around....
 
I find it all pretty simple....I sometimes have 4 or 5 tree stands out all season. Never had one messed with. I'm not trying to claim any spot, if I go to use a stand and someone else is hunting anywhere near it I will go somewhere else, no problem...he was there first. The stand however belongs to me and is my property...stay out of it. On the other hand, if I met you hunting the area and you asked me to use it for the day I would probably say go ahead if you were a decent guy.

If you put out a feeder or bait pile in Alberta your asking to not being able to hunt for the rest of the season.Baiting is not allowed what so ever. CO once told us that sitting over a farmers grain pile or haystack could be considered baiting even thou somebody else had put it there.
 
I'm starting to see a deep and abiding misunderstanding of the Alberta hunting regs.

No matter how much work you may put in preparing a spot for your own use, if there is someone sitting there when you get there, YOU are disturbing HIS hunting set, not the other way around.

Talk this over with a CO. Really.

It'll save a lot of butthurt.

Want a private hunting spot? Buy land of your own!

I'll say this one more time....the law states you can not interfer with a "Person" engaged in a legal hunt or perparatory action for a legal hunt. Your tree stand is NOT a PERSON!!!! Go in front of a mirror and put your tree stand beside you ....now look in the mirror and then look at the stand....do this several times.....do you see the difference?
Anyways again, enjoy your next hunt....hopefully your stand will still be there!

Can I tie my boat to your dock that you left on crown land and water? Can I drive in front your house? Can I park there? How long can you leave your vehicle parked on a public street before it can be ticketed and/or towed?

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck....................................????

If you leave your truck parked in an area you can not claim that area as "your" hunting area.....if you leave your truck blocking an access you are interferring with others.
Try leaving the doors unlocked with the keys in the ignition for say 89 days and then act surprised when you return and the truck is missing!!! Not many people will feel sorry for your loss!!!
You want to be considerate of others???? Remove your stand when you are done YOUR hunt....if you are NOT present you are NOT hunting....how hard is that to understand?
