I looked into it and the guy that imported 2 versions from china/hk said he paid a stupid amount for them. like 800 a piece or something.

The T97 badly needs a forward mount for aimpoint/eotech BUT at that price you should just shell out a few dollars more and get a tavor!

I saw online one sold on ebay for $220... but they are nearly impossible to find anywhere. Ive scoured google and only found a few pictures let alone any actual link to buy one. I dont mind ordering from overseas if I could find one.

Besides the placement of the fire selector switch, I think this rifle is going to be VERY interesting... Just having a gas selector opens the door for a lot of... Amusing... Possibilities.

Because the one 4 years ago, and this one, are not the same gun. We still can't have that gun from 4 years ago. This is a re-design, and as such was classified as a new design. The old type 97 is still prohib.

I think I'll see how the iron sights and the rifle as a whole feels and works before I worry about optics. I'm interested in this as fun small rifle not a long distance rig nor do I want to make it bigger and heavier than need be. The main point of it to me is that it is small and compact, that and it is semi and takes AR mags of course.

Too true. I'm holding off getting an ambi for it so I can actually see what may or may not fit.
