Maybe some of you guys have already tried this I don't know .. but it's simply awesome, not at all like flitz or mothers mag, it's not a 'rubbing compound' - it does not take anything off the metal, it is just like waxing your car. A preservative for metals and woods.

I have it and it's really good...they use in in the Museum industry to protect valuable artifacts

Also known as Conservator's Wax. I believe it's available at Lee Valley. I use it when restoring vintage straight razors. It protects both the scales (wood,horn,bone) and the steel when stored for long periods of time. Never put it on a gun - might try it if I was storing for an extended period without use.
