Thinking of adding a full-stock to the safe...

I noticed another member selling a new Sako Bavarian Carbine stock on EE right now. A real beauty. You can easily build your own FS Carbine with any Sako 85 that has the regular profile barrel... it just needs to be shortened to 20 inches. Heck you can build a stainless variation!

Umm... Where do I get that? And do they come in a lefty?

This is one of 200 made in 7x57 and one of only 13 (I think) brought into Canada.

I know a member here was selling one a long time ago but they are going to be hard to find for sure. RH only too, as far as I know. They also made a run of 200 in .250 Savage a year or two before the 7x57 run. Not sure how many of those were brought into Canada. I know some members here have them. Maybe they can fill me in.

Pretty sure that the numbers made was 250. They were a special run for Lipsy's, and Clay at Prophet River has brought a few of each one made into Canada. I've got one each in 250 Savage, 308 Win., 7x57, 257 Roberts and 7mm08. Only missing the 6.5x55.

there are a number of them available on Gunbroker, and Clay can import them for you.

Ah! 250. It's been a while since I bought mine and obviously didn't remember correctly. I also didn't know about some of the other cartridges you listed. Sounds like you have a spectacular collection of them! Congrats!

When I bought mine in 250-3000 I was told it was one of a dozen imported into Canada.

GR 100 You must mean this one..........

Unfortunately due to the big move right now I haven't been able to shoot it.
Here's a few more full stocks I've been hoarding in my gun vault, as with the OP and others I seem to have an affinity for full wooded rifles. I much prefer them in short actions though.
OP, you were considering the CZ 550 FS, I highly recommend them for around the same price as the Zastava, well OK a couple hundred more, they are 10X the rifle for a little more money.
The one in the background is my 360 Wagner ( AKA 9.3X62) which I used to slay a record book Atlantic Walrus.
The one in the foreground is a 7X64, which I bought on a whim and could be convinced I didn't need it.;)

I also have a thing for the 77 RSI short action.

Front to rear.........243....250....308

Guess you did not shoot the late production Zastava Mannlicher... Free floated barrel even on the tip, trigger adjustable to 2.5 pounds, sub MOA out of the box with quality factory ammo, beautifull wood, deep luster bluing ... You get a lot of rifle for 718.00, but on the other hand i do not own a CZ except for my 416 Rigby... JP.

I just spent 1/2 hr playing with a new Zastava JP, and I wasn't impressed, it was adequate but a definite step down from the CZ. The wood was super plain and soft and a monkey could have done a better checkering job, the inletting was fair but would need bedding for sure. After a real good look at 2 of these rifles I was very unimpressed. Especially when for a couple-3 hundred bucks more you can get a significant step up in either a used Ruger RSI or a new CZ. JMHO and YMMV

Cody,

will have to talk soon if you still want yours in 7x57 ...

all the best.

Phil

Actually, I'd like it in 9.3 X62. Let me know when you get something figured out.

I didnt think I would ever say this, but they look as good or better in stainless in my opinion. Although a bit untraditional, the all stainless pictures posted look really sharp.

Cody.........or anyone else for that matter, if you could find me a 250 blued in good to excellent condition I would gladly trade my stainless for it. It looks out of place to me.

You could always have it CeraKoted....or something like that.

Some would say SS on a FS is blaspheme. Plus, could you even tell if it was black or some other similar shade?

Perhaps not, but the thought gives me shivers...

Jeezus.H.... let's see some ####!

I'll second that motion!

Well... pics are the thing... I am generally disinclined to take them, except on specific request... most of the bolt actions that I have done were commissioned by friends and range rats... but my H&R brethren over on GBO have made the request numerous times, so I do have some pics of the Handi's that I have done... I am always working on Handi projects (I know, I know... I don't want to hear it... I just have an unexplainable love for the simple little suckers!);

Soooo... here is a .357 Maximum that I finished a few months back;

This pair is not a full FS, but I did this swap barrel .30/30 & 7.62X39 set with cocobolo tips;

I have a pair of .44 Magnum Handi's that are being made into walnut/rosewood "Buffalo Classic" Mannlicher styles... and a .35 Whelen Maple full stock, and .22 BR Remington FS... all on the work bench.
