T97 vs Tavor Threads Merged

FINALLY... after 7 attempts and 4 different editing programs I finally got this video to upload. The quality is not great but its the best i could do. My original attempts had nice titles and stuff. It just kept failing. So I went back to the basics. At least you can see how both guns shoot.


You can see the T97 smoking after 20 rounds. It started pretty warm already but the smoke was coming out of every crack on the gun. Even behind the grip. Im sure it was just excess G96 burning off but my Tavor has never done that. I need to practice reloads with the T97 more. Im sure with a little effort I could get pretty fast with it.

Video has been changed to a version without a stupid sound echo. What a pain thats been... its not great quality but at least its up. I have a few more of shooting the T97 ill TRY and work on today.

Ive been practicing Tavor reloads constantly so I can prove its just as fast as an AR... lol. I have a buddy to prove wrong.
 
Excellent thread OP. only thing is apples to apples price wise.

Tavor new from dealer 2749 x 1.13 = 3106.37

Type 97 new from dealer 1049 x 1.13 = 1185.37

difference of $1921.00 comparing apples to apples.

So a Type 97 is 38 per cent price of a Tavor.

Thats a lot of ammo.

Yes but as the OP stated the Tavor is 3x the firearm compared to the T97 so you pay for what you get. Wanna eat spam or you wanna eat prime rib?

Great vid man , the Tavor does seem to have the faster trigger , im guessing its due to a shorter reset ?
 
These are different guns and are different prices for a reason. They should be considered by different users IMO. As I stated before, if you plan to compete you probably want the best, most ergonomic and fastest to run gun you can get. Chances are, your willing to pay for it.

If your just an every day plinker or someone who wants to carry the gun in the woods your probably not willing to pay 3X the price for a gun that will do everything you want it to but maybe lacks some of the high speed and high precision ergonomics. There is room in this world for both of these guns and NO ONE is wrong for buying either. The Tavor is not "over priced" and the T97 is not a "Tavor beater".

This is why there are $600 norinco AR's and $2000 Stag Arms AR's. They do, essentially, the same thing. But one is for a competition minded user who values precision and ultra high quality. The other is for a recreational user who just wants to have affordable fun.

IMO, anyone who knocks either of these guns is short sighted, stubborn and wrong. People have to stop thinking that the gun that suits them is the "right gun" and everything else is "wrong". If its right for you... its right. If its wrong for you, chances are its right for someone else and your negative comments are not necessary.

It's not mine (tavor)is better than yours (T97). It's mine is battle proven and tested, left handed friendly and easy to operate controls. This whole concept of T97 bush gun / plinker versus Tavor competition is not a fair point to make. They are both black rifle bullpups in the same category and therefore need to be compared on the same even playing field that both are designed for.
