Waiting for the Wilson #428 rear sight; that will require some precision milling work. Front sight will be post dove-tail. Also will tighten up the slide to get rid of the horizontal play.

I'll post what was done on frame little after; waiting some more parts to complete...

Just wondering if anyone has reloaded that Norc ammo that comes with this gun? There have been a couple casings that have 'clipped' at the mouth. Is it suitable for reloading? I am new to reloading (will be this winter) and don't want to take a chance.
Thanks

I've reloaded lots of the Norinco 45 and found it great to reload. No problems at all.

Sweet! Just got a text from the gf saying my combo was delivered this aft! Two days ahead of when the delivery date was supposed to be! Can't wait to get home tonight and take a look!

Latest update " Waiting for CFC Approval - Transfer made, waiting for approval"

I phoned and the approval was done last week.

Edit: I just called CanadaAmmo. I didn't think they accepted calls, as they didn't a couple months ago when I ordered a CZ from them. The fellow there said " he would forward my message on to the proper people".
Should be sent out tomorrow. I'm happy now!

Weird, mine was 7 days computer screen to door (eastern ontario) they must be really busy with the new DA ARs and Norc .22s. Either way, these dudes are absolutely great. Product quality was A+++ especially for norinco. I despised norinco before this, since then I've bought a CQ-A as well.

Odd update.....

Back on Page 349.....I was stoked to buy the pistol and ammo deal. So much so that I ordered two of them. Now here is where blasphemy and my flame suit is now on......

I called Canada Ammo and asked them to cancel my order. Everybody here is probably thinking........WTF? Why would I pass up such a great deal. I had an OK from the wife too.

Due to a financial crunch I had to make the call to cancel and the cheque is now in the mail. Thanks to Canada Ammo for being really cool about it.

After making the call I started to re-think the idea of going for a 1911. It is not that I didn't like the platform, but ammo cost for 45ACP made me realize that I wanted to scale it back a bit, hence the reason for wanting to go for a STI Spartan in 9mm in the first place until this deal showed itself a couple of months ago. There is nothing wrong with a 45ACP 1911. I tried it before from my uncle that still has one. Cool pistol. A little bit more oomph on the recoil factor and control-ability for me (others are probably better at that then me).

I started looking at other threads about modifying it. I figured that I wanted to get new sights and the slide would have to milled (may be not so easy due to crazy hard metal - which I see as a good thing). I also figured that I wanted to get a beavertail safety, commander style hammer, flat mainspring housing with a magwell and a new trigger. I looked at other tools and youtube videos to possibly do a trigger job with the sear and hammer. After figuring out the costs for gunsmithing for the slide, getting the parts from Brownells (which may or may not completely drop in) and everything else I would be up to the cost of an STI Spartan. After checking out other threads, most of the consensus was to save up a little more to get what you exactly want rather than getting something cheap (albeit good to start out with) and then build it to your liking. I am not a Norc hater, but the fact that my shipment was waiting an OK from the CFO gave me a couple of weeks to really decide what is better for me. So I can say that there are two more 1911s and 2000 more rounds back into the inventory for other to try. To all those that are building neat projects with the Norc 1911A1 as a base, kudos to you guys for getting the drool factor going. I will still probably go for the 1911 platform (only in 9mm because of ammo cost and the reloading factor), but it will probably be about 6 to 8 weeks later. May be the sale will be over by then, but if it is not then more 1911s to go around for everybody that wants to try, eh (which I see a good thing for the shooting community)?

Keep the photos coming, and have fun with all the mods and thanks to those that may read my post as an honest thought out contribution to the thread.

Cheers
