Funny, but it grows on you. I no longer find it ugly at all, any more than all bullpups are. To me, they all look wrong. The fact that it is Chinese made doesn't bother me. My brothers TNW mg34 could never have worked flawlessly from new, as it suffers from a flawed design. He'll have that alleviated soon, thanks to some mechanical know how. I have a German made firearm (un-named as a thank you for quick service) that broke the first time out, and many US gun companies are pumping out less than perfect products, and often servicing them poorly.

The safety sucks, but I never use it, and I hate my ambi safety on my Ar-15. Why the heck would I want that piece of steal under the top of my trigger finger when I shoot? Stupid design.

Drag out your 1919 with my brother and I, (you've shown it to him, and tease him with it often) and you can shoot it yourself. :)
 
I like the idea of a new NR gun, but I really wish it wasnt so ugly.. The handle it hideous, and its just so plain. Its looks like a cheap plastic toy. The price is too steep also compared to other Norinco firearms. It should be around 700$ I think. I MIGHT consider it if they made one with a different top, without the handle and made it more aesthetic.
 
I am glad new arms are making their way to Canada but .......not a flippin chance of ever owning one for me.
That said, there is a flavor for everyone but this ones not for me.
 
I don't mind the positioning of the mag release it works well for me, although the button could be a little larger. The safety position isn't bad for me either, but again it could be larger.

But hey maybe I'm just a freak!
 
im reading quite a few "legality" comments on this thread and i suppose reclassification of bullpups is always a nightmarish possibility, but I say we stand proud. safety in numbers? hells yes.

as for the T97 being fugly? hells yes to that too.

that being said i have a number of norcs that work fine, and i dont usually buy guns based on looks or lack thereof- more on proven platform and reliability. T97 is unproven.

personally, I have opted save for 3X longer (3X the price) for the Tavor (probably 3X the gun), which is a ###y lookin beast and, although still a newer BP itself, has proven itself loads more than the T97. captain obvious

there is a niche for bullpups here in Canada cuz their barrel length relative to their overall length makes them a weildy non-res option in the bush. captain obvious again.

the more zany gun laws the gov imposes, the more short, non-res options like bullpups will take off IMHO.

I'm hopin the T97's make their owners happy, I just don't think it's the BP for me.

i am mostly a pistol shooter, so i am no bullpup expert. I'm just getting into the platform, so this is just my 2 cents.

kudos to all Canadians arming themselves legally.

P.S. I'm pretty sure that no matter what i post, someone will try and take me down a peg or point out a mistake, so just try and remember that not everyone is as awesome as you:p

Everything is made in China these days.

Don't blame the Chinese for being capitalists. Blame the Canadian government for being fasco-socialist.

If anything, the Chinese have done more to secure our collective firearms rights than any political group has in the past 30 years.

Just think about this dichotomy: Chinese state-capitalists working with Canadian entrepreneurs have put tens of thousands of guns in the hands of Canadian citizens. The Canadian government (including and especially under the leadership of the beloved Tories) have taken those guns away, locked (or threatened to lock) those citizens behind bars and proactively screwed over the Canadian entrepreneurs who work hard and take insane risks trying to grow this community and preserve this sport.

I was cleaning one of mine this morning and I have to say I really am impressed. The only comparable rifle I've had in recent days is the Kel Tec SU16 - non-res, polymer blend, .223, piston gun, manufactured in the past 1-2 years. Hands down, the T97 blows it away - just like how in the coming days, most things Chinese will blow away most things Western.

Like these rifles, China is the future - there is absolutely no denying that. Industrially, economically, politically, socially and militarily.

While the Anglo-American empire swirls down the toilet, the Chinese empire is on the rise, and it's VERY exciting for those riding the tide.

For those fighting the inevitable, well, it will be a pretty scary time.

usually stuff made in China is crap... we can all agree.

But firearms made in Communist countries for their military are usually great! ... and I see no reason why the T97 should be different.

p.s. Please don't waste my time with whether China is/or is not a Communist country. I have things that require my attention more than internet squabbles ... thanks :)

p.p.s Also I know the T97 we are getting wasn't made for there military... but it is based off that rifle

*gad damn internet, always having to back yourself up to avoid the armchair experts from nerding out on you... sigh*

Waiting on canams version.....even at $850 I think its overpriced but I'll take a chance on one for that. Ain't in any rush....
