General warning Don't waste your money on a UTS 15!

Hi John ,
I live in Nanaimo ! I got in on the first UTS order!
The wields on the barrel broke after only 29 rounds
, so I shipped it back for a full refund ! Thank You!
Then I purchased a KSG , which I still have .
I suggest you start with me!
I will give you a honest test !

Thanks, you are one of the very people we are hoping to use as testers. You will note that the welding has been much improved. Please send me an e-mail with all your details as outlined above.

I will PM you tommorrow ! I am flying home from Fort McMurray today !
I would be very interested in this , as I did like the way the dual mag tubes feed , with out having to switch them !

I don't have either, but the KSG seems to be a more sensible size:

I will certainly stop your store middle of next week, on my way to british columbia. If you are looking to a complete shotgun newb who will bullet-proof the shotgun's ergonomic, I am a good candidate :)

General warning – Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet.

This the UTS-15 in question, it was returned to us today. I checked her myself on arrival, the bolt would not lock forward in battery so she would not fire. I checked the barrel nut and found the O-ring which should be behind the barrel lug was in front of it. I reassembled correctly and then she locked up. I then test fired with 10 rds with no problem. This video is of Brent who then reloaded with 14 rds.
This O-ring may be done away with on future models so she cannot be re-assembled incorrectly.

Please see the Video below!!

Brent personally called me the other day because I was having this same problem, told me about the O-ring situation and to remove it. I have done that, but not yet had a chance to test it at the range, but my bets are on that it works as shown in the video. I'll update the post when I get out again.

Thanks Wolverine and Brent for your great customer care.

You can check this before you even go to the range. First check your gun is unloaded. Cycle the action, locking the bolt forward and then try and pull the forearm to the rear, it should resist all attempts to unlock unless you pull the trigger or press the action release. If any problems please give Brent a call.

I have enought faith in this gun that I am thinking of sending one on a non chaperoned road trip. I have not worked out the details yet but something along the lines of the following: We ship the gun to the first tester, he starts by reporting on the condition she in on arrival, then proceeds to shoot the hell out of her and report back here, the good, the bad and the ugly. He then cleans and lubricates her and ships to the next guy who repeats the process. Let's say max of 14 days per tester, idealy ship after 10 days so each tester would have her over a week end. The opening report will be very interesting as we see a lot of guns returned to us as faulty when in reality they have been abused through lack of routeine mainatance. So your cleaning and lubrication will be critiqued by the next tester! The tester provides the ammo, reports here and covers the cost of mailing to the next tester. After the report is made here and the gun arrives at the next tester we would issue a $100 store credit to the tester.

I would not limit this to only pro UTAS testers, I just ask for an honest appraisal.
Comments please.

Hey John,

Send it to us in Peace River for our Team Three Gun Match on Oct. 5. We'll work it into a demo or a stage. We're expecting 35-40 shooters.

Steve

Once again Wolverine goes above and beyond trying to solve issues with a product. A big thank you to John and all his people, this is one dealer we should all support.

I've used both, own a KSG, usually any issue's with either are operator error, almost everyone I've let shoot my KSG has short stroked it.

Hi Steve

Please send me an e-mail with all your details, I am sure you will enjoy having a UTS-15 for your shoot. We just ask that the use of her is supervised so she is maintained and not abused during the day.

First thing I will say.... Wolverine stands behind what they sell and are great people to deal with, I have dealt with Brent and John. Second...I'm not as big of a fan of the UTS anymore. Third... If you think the UTS is a big gun give your head a shake its shorter than a JW 2000 Double Barrel 12 Ga with 12" Barrels.

Also the newest version with the new barrel and new metal not plastic parts will be a good gun. But I have just had my fill of the older models at this point I guess.

I understand where you are coming from. I'm the first one to admit I was less than enamored with the way the first ones were causing problems, but after having used the new ones and the upgraded ones as much as I have my faith has been restored. I have actually got a little bit of a soft spot for these shotguns now.

Hi folks,

I dropped this afternoon by Wolverines on my way to Regina. Beside blowing up my credit card on another gun, Brent let me try a few shot out of a marine version of the UTS-15. First of all, let me precise that these were my first shot ever out of a shotgun. That being said, during the first mag dump, I had a FTE+FTF (the spent round stove-piped, while another round came on the ramp...), as well as a subsequent FTF (shotgun going "click"). I will blame these failure on me not operating the rifle hard enough. On the second mag dump, I was more secure, and racked the hell out of this baby. Everything went smooth. Loads were a mix of target load and buckshot.

I cannot really compare with other shotgun as it is the only experience I have with such firearms. Pics might be following soon.

You had the rhythm going on the second set that was for sure. The FTE and FTF was because you hadn't got the follow through and if you hesitate racking the action forward on these and then bring it back and forward again it will trigger the next shell to drop in which caused the stove pipe. When you were more aggressive on your second load up, it worked like a hot knife through butter. It was great getting to meet you today, hope the rest of your journey is a safe and fun one.
