Yeah sure .223 will kill a black bear in a reasonable amount of time allowing you to track and take the bear home if your shooting at cubs. Maybe you like shooting at juvenile bears less than 2 years old which is not allowed in BC. Either way, you shoot at a black bear with a .223 and you should have your hunters number taken away for life. Plain and simple.
Anyone that shoots a black bear in the Vancouver area or Fraser Valley area needs to get there head screwed on straight. You can't eat them because they are so full of worms from eating trash and just taking the hide and leaving the carcass will get you in hot water with the CO.

Made a conservation officer look at my T97NSR on the range. He was very happy I did, his first reaction was prohibited, due to the bullpup, then restricted due to length. When I told him it was non-restricted, he thanked me for showing it to him, as he hates being wrong when dealing with hunters.
Oh, and the gun is still shooting very well. Traded a Gen2 PMag for a LAR-15 mag, the LAR-15 worked very well.

i takes one in my hand today , feeling was not to bad but the mag release is not at the right place for me and it so small , and second thing i notice is the magwell was so tight that i was unable to put the mag in ! , but after that i take a nr kriss that was a another story i got a better felling than the t97 maybe later !

Handled and got to see a few in action today at a match. I'm guessing the design bureau didn't bother looking up the word "Ergonomic" in the dictionary. I may buy one when they're half the price just to have one but I sure wouldn't be using it for matches of any sort.
Self defense is in fact "legal" in Canada. Aside from that, its a right afforded to any and all who value their own life. Plenty of cases of people downing scumbags and not being convicted of a crime.
Arguably yes. I don't think the reduced penetration of soft point ammo, or a ballistic tip would be negatively detrimental to performance. I suspect the 55gr projectile is the biggest downfall.
How many years did that take? And how many times were we the public given a delivery date??? Lots of hype, lies, and wait time for a poor product with what appears to be ZERO support as far as parts and accessories are concerned..

I am not talking 55gr FMJ here, but other heavier bullets. I would not shoot a bear to eat either, that is just nasty. I am speaking of a wilderness protection point of view. i would feel perfectly safe being charged by a grizz, and popping 10 rounds in its head. no muss, no fuss....

Forgive me for dragging the thread back to the original topic...but it would not matter if every gun owner in Canada owned ten T97's. If we get a government that is unfriendly to our sport, we are all in big trouble. Just look at what happened in Australia back in 1996 when PM John Howard banned semi-automatics.
Sorry to burst the OP's bubble, but the only way to protect the right to own ANY type of gun, is to support a political party that is the least harmful to our sport, and to maintain a vibrant and healthy pro-gun ownership organizations. If you don't like the T97 but worry about the prospect of a re-classification in the future, put your money to work and donate to our supporters.
Btw, I really like the T97. Sure the buttons are in odd places compared to what I am used to, but that's just a matter of training and it keeps the internal mechanicals simple. Judging by how many countries now use bullpups in the field, they seem to be the gradual wave of the future.
I am just thrilled that I am able to own such a rifle in Canada, un-restricted. I would never have believed it possible after C-68 and all the OIC's banning certain named types as prohibs. Kudos to the importer companies for working hard and taking big financial risks to getting this rifle into the Canadian market.

I have one got it from p&d, no barrel gouge. Haven't shot it yet due to work. Looks good so far.
