What does a cartridge case left on the ground and a old shoe in a dumpster have in common?
Below an old shoe, I mean a cartridge case subjected to a over pressure condition.
So your range pickup brass doesn't fit in your shell plate or shell holder. If you didn't like my old shoe humor maybe you will like my posted drawing above.
These cases below wouldn't fit in your shell plate either.
I don't pick up brass at the range unless I know it is once fired factory loaded ammunition. The three cases above were range pickup brass and reloaded by a new reloader who didn't have a case trimmer and didn't know that excessively long necks could cause extremely high pressures.
The small amount of time each day that you do have your head out of your @ss should be used for more important things than trying to save money and using range pickup brass of unknown condition.
Just sayin'.
You just had an educational learning experience, now man up and digest what you learned about old shoes and range pickup brass.

If the shoe fits wear it........................Or if the brass doesn't fit, chuck it.
