Anyone knows someone who can make one or is selling one?

Someone is trying to sell them for $300 on on GB ... and yeah ... no. 300$ for a bolt carrier?!

Every time I have looked on gunbroker, the prices are quite inflated as you watch two determined bidders go at each other over a rifle or accessory.

But you can get the Albanian SKS for 300-400$, save for the darn import costs. Asking 300$ for a bolt carrier is just unreal!

Someone should 3-D print and CNC these, they'll sell like hot cakes here.

And they'll cost $600 each. It's not as easy to do as many people think.

I've always wondered how people interpret "Yeah I would buy one of those" somehow means "EVERYONE would buy one of those"; speak for yourself please. I have a half dozen SKSs and I wouldn't buy one. Really, aside from aesthetics the Albanian carrier offers no practical advantage over the standard SKS carrier. In fact I'd think it would stick you in the back more frequently when slung.

Unless you're a lefty I don't see a reason why you'd sling your rifle that way. Then again that's like a lefty claiming that no-one would buy a bullpop that doesn't have a left side ejection port. We can't AKs here and many people like to make their SKS look like one. I don't, I just don't like the knob and I wouldn't mind replacing it with a hook on my Chinese Norico.

Everyone has their own taste

And it's a shame yours is the way it is.

Jokes aside, I personally have nothing against the plastic guns, I think they serve their purpose but I'll never come out there and say that I hate them- Specially not in a Milsurp forum. If beauty is a by product of flawless function, then how could you not appreciate carved wood as opposed to cast plastic?

The first gun I ever touched was my grandfather's St. Etienne marked double barrel, I can still smell the wood on it. Now to imagine the same gun with plastic hand guard and stock, now that's a horrible thought.

Closest to plastic is my DDM4 & the Glock 26 everything i own is steel

I wonder how you came up with that number ... there was guy in the states who used to make at 1/12th of your guesstimated price.

Tapco used to make SKS bolts (not carriers) for $89.99. However, to have someone reverse engineer, design, machine, test and repeat would cost a great deal of money and time. If you could absolutely guarantee 100 or more sales, sure it would be cheaper. But anything less would cost a small fortune getting it right. Machining and 3D printing are not cheap, and are very time consuming. Also, looking at an SKS carrier, you have at least half a dozen milling setups/operations required, and a lot of material (likely pre-hardened to save time and NCRd parts) to be removed. Doing it right is not at all cheap.
