No idea on FPS :)

Target set up in the trees @ 400m, 100m zero.

Not the best shooting position, trying to hunker down slightly below the crest & keep out of the wind.

Fired about 40 rounds at various targets in the tree line, the one pictured below was the last 5 shot group of the day as the wind was picking up.

I don't own a wind meter so you can see my adjustments shifting left & up walking up to the circle. Was also having issues keeping track of my zeros and fighting the trigger.

Anyway, a good first day out I think. Need to sort out that &%$*ing 14 lb X-Mark trigger, then load development and and some sand bags to keep the butt where it belongs.

Cheers.

Good shooting. Not bad for out of the box. Are you keeping it as is? My suggestion is to bed the rifle as well as your other observations. Definitely room for improvement with a little tweeking.

Not bad at all for 400m. Looks to be about MOA. I'd be happy for a new rifle and like others have said, you can bed it and it'll probably improve.

I'd be trying hotter loads with that short stiff barrel.

Great rifles to build upon. The stock will limit your accuracy the most. When shooting off a bipod or bag u can see the stock flex and contact the barrel which get frustrating quick. New stock really makes these a shooter

Cheers

Those Hogue stocks aren't the greatest as others have pointed out. Bedding does help a bit if done right. You can "load" your bipod legs or support the rifle closer to the magazine area to try and cut down on the stock making contact with the barrel. If bedding isn't an option, you can shim the front part of the receiver.

Thanks for the input guys.

I was concerned about the stock but a new replacement is a ways down the road yet, maybe in the new year. In the mean time, I'm keeping an eye on the EE. Maybe a gently used factory B&C will fall into my lap before then :)

Yah, I think I will leave it pretty much factory. The stock is a serious weakness and will go but the rest will stay as is. The trigger is awful but I haven't backed the sear screw out yet either so here's hoping.

There is more to it than that....

I may have a B&C with adjustable butstock for sale..... or I have a HS precision unit off my 5R =)

I won't tell you more about the trigger because it's a liability thing, but the info is easily obtained out there.

You'd be surprised how affordable a B&C stock can be if you bought it brand new vs used on EE. :)

I've been really happy with the accuracy I've been getting out of my stock 700 ADL in .223.
So far I've only shot it at 100m, but i've been getting sub moa with my hand loads.

Way to go. Consider bedding the action/stock and opening up the forend ALOT.

Consider putting a floor mat under the Harris feet. Some of the grouping could be the Harris sinking into the dirt.

Enjoy and good luck.

$291 CAD shipped to my door from US for any model I want (except A5) or $350 CAD plus shipping for a used factory take-off... You sir make a good point :) mine should be here this week and I can't wait!

Good shooting! Are you going to try and stretch it out a bit? I'd love to see some 6-800m groups.

Yessir. I have access to a couple spots where we have a full mile to a natural back stop.

A friend (who's CGN handle I can never remember - sorry Tim) ordered these out of the states. Set up on a 6' post they should work pretty good for long range plinking.

1/2" AR500 steel, got both for $200 and change shipped out of the US.
