just on a whim I went into wholesale sports to look at the handguns for my first buy and they were kind enough to give me what they thought was good for my first hand gun

here are my thoughts on the weapons he handed me (nothing big just what caught my attention)

Glock 21 gen 3
I hated it as soon as I picked it off the counter the grip weight and "feel" I just didn't like it.

Norinco 1911A1C
its a 1911 what can I say that hasn't been said

Beretta 92
I really liked this handgun but the mag release really bothered me

Then I saw the big ugly nasty lump of steel called the desert eagle .50ae

Well let me tell you the desert eagle felt great in my hand fit me better then the 92 and the 1911. I loved the weight the mag release was awesome and the mag just jumped out the well the only thing that I didn't like was the safety I can still use it one handed fairly easy but it could be better. needless to say I fell in love with the thing and im going back there after hunting to buy me that handcanon. *HANDCANNON*

so lets have the glock,92 and 1911 lovers call me a nut case for buying this thing

Make sure you bring a flathead to tighten down the safety once in a while. Recoil shakes it loose. You will be surprised at how tame it actually is, and how easy it is to shoot accurately.

Cannon

I tried one the other day and was really pleased at how well it shot and how good it felt in the hand. As far as I'm concerned you did exactly what you should have done. Try some out and pick the one that worked for you. Good job.

To each their own. Glad you found something you like. You should probably work out what it's going to cost you in ammo for the purpose you are going to use it for. For me, I like to to target shoot at the range 4-5 times a month. Probably go through ~400 rounds of 9mm/45ACP and ~500 rounds of .22 each range trip. Roughly that`s about $150 per range trip. No way I could afford to do that shooting .50 caliber at $2.00+ per round. I have nothing but envy for people with a hobby budget that can support that :)

Chris you may want to think this over

DE .50 down sides

-Gun cost alot
-Ammo cost is huge
-Finding ammo is very hard
-it is not a good gun to learn the basics on
-the grip is huge
-Mags are pricey
-reliability is hit and miss

Is this you first handgun?

the ammo cost doesn't bother me all that much, I am worried if they allow it in the indoor range at the Saskatoon WF I'm fine being outdoors but you all know being in -20 plus wind-chill feels like.

if it makes you happy buy it , but while you are at it look into a press, scale, dies , primer powders and a tumbler because you will need it even if the ammo is managable for you finding it is another story

just my .02$enjoy and safe shooting

iv already saw the price of the weapon and ammo
I go shooting maybe once every two months
yes the grip Is big but I said that already
I only need 1 mag if it brakes I will buy a new one :)
as for reliability I hear its more on how bad it wips around in your grip that causes alot of the hangups

yes it will be my first handgun

Chris you got the cash then giver :)

But dont get angry at the gun when your groups are huge, as a new shooter your going to need alot of rounds down range to get good. The DE is one of the most accurate handguns I ever fired but its not easy to get alot of rounds down range.

Another option to look at :)

D.E. 50 AE as a first gun? And I thought a .45 1911, was a poor choice. But if I had the money to buy and shoot it, I'd go for it.
The chance might never come along again. Just one thing though, don't expect to ever get a thrill outta shooting anything lesser.;)

for the most part guys while I would like to get .5 groups with it (lol) I just go to the range to have fun but at the same time im not just sending lead down range for the hell of it its hard to explain.

Iv heard the Jericho are really nice guns well I think that's a Jericho anyway

Yep, a Jericho 941. Comes in 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45ACP.

if you are looking the DE50 for high power, you might want to look at revolver instead, I had the DE44.... very nice pistol but I'll prefer my S&W629 (44 magnum) instead of the DE44...why ? because I prefer the high recoil of a 44 magnum in revolver, the DE had less recoil than the revolver.... so maybe you want to consider a S&W460/500 ?
